I got a package. Trident XT-6.

paid 480 all up down from 600. The Drummond golf outlet here was moving shop so they had a pretty big clearance.

handy because between that, paying my club membership up front and my new addiction to golf clothes I’ve already spent close to a couple of grand.
Friend, I also had tridents!

not that I’d actually know but they seem to be good value.

the hybrid 3 that came with the package hits like a dream the one in five times I make good contact

35 points today. I birdied 10 to go 4 under handicap and then on 11 I put it in the trees. A bloke two groups in front of us bent down and looked at a ball and then kept going. I couldn’t see what he did and then he was gone. My ball was gone as well. I asked him if he picked it up. He said nothing but his mate stepped in and said we wouldn’t do that.
I also had multiple three putts and a few putts hit the flag and come out.
We aren’t using the holes with the foam in it. We have a device attached to the flag that you lift with your putter and the ball comes out. The problem is that the flag is wider and the ball doesn’t drop a lot so any pace on the ball can cause it to come out.

That would be annoying. We have the foam and unless it is hit way too hard, haven't seen it not drop

Every course uses foam ffs. No, but we have to be different.
I play some country courses and a local course regularly and I’ve never seen it come out of holes with foam at the bottom.
Also, any lips of the hole that are falling in that flick the flag will most likely come out as it won’t drop.

I managed to hit the pin on a putt and kick it out. Sort of. It was a silly one hand “putt” from the edge of the cup out of frustration the ball didn’t drop.

what would have been my first par, and on a par 4 even, turned into a three putt double bogey.

A couple of grand is just the beginning 🤣
Enjoy

Hey regulars, how highly would you prioritise a pair of golf shoes for beginner players?

I've always just worn flat walking shoes, my concern being that I splash out for shoes but have trouble walking the full 18 while I wear them in then it might have more of a negative impact.

Good shoes don't need to be "worn in"
If the course is dry runners are ok

Hello Maddo11 . As Toxic said, runners are fine. Ensure they are comfy as you're talking in XS of 6 kms during the round. I once procured a model of shoe at the club, wore them for 18 holes and found the skin on my achilles was missing. Not comfy and promptly returned them.

There's a big range of shoes ranging from golf style and classic look to the almost street style shoe that's designed to wear on and off the course once u ready.

For example

My kid bought a $100 pair of Pumas and won't wear them now..says he gets sore feet. Personally I think he has got his eyes on a $300 pair of adidas or footjoys. What is it with this generation's love of shoes? He doesn't have much money...but I bet there is probably 5k worth of shoes somehow in his room.

I’ve got ASICS golf shoes. My orthotics are fit universally across my runners, footy boots, cricket spikes and these

Definitely want a good pair of wet weather shoes if you play in winter.

I hate playing in runners, never have confidence that I won’t slip in the tee box.

Its funny though, it took me awhile to wear golf shoes but since I've started wearing them, I've worn runners once since and hated it. Will never go back to runners again

Yes sir!

Footjoys are exceptionally good. I feel. Have two pairs (one boa). Actually 3 (one was too thin and hurt). And 2 x True Links OGs. Beautiful shoes.

Yes ot both. especially the first one. Nothing worse than squishing around.

Oh and wet weather pants if you play in rain. Nice and dry legs and jocks.

Yeah, I have FJs and they are not particularly well looked after but are still very comfy when they are used.
