Played 9 with two others, one I'd never met before. Had x6 1 putts in a row. X12 for the round. Rest of the game was OK, but only needed to be putting like that. Had a bit of the hooks yesterday but think I worked that out. Can't complain about 2 over.

9 holes at Phillip Island, 5 pars 3 bogies, 1 double.
Course in super nick considering the traffic and weather. 2.5hours not good.
I don’t know about you guys but when I give the driver a full shoulder turn it’s incredible how much better the result. Straighter, longer.

Played a social 9 with a mate yesterday. Pretty pleased with how I played, and hit some nice shots throughout the day.

But the real highlight was when he took one (and only one) slowmo video of my swing on a drive, and it ended up being by far the best drive I have ever hit since I took up golf. That's not an exaggeration. I absolutely smoked this and it went 251m (which is huge for me - my average distance on a "good" drive is much closer to 200m).

So... for your viewing pleasure enjoy watching the swing of a 39 handicapper who has been playing for under 12 months! Please also watch my face as I look up and realise just how well I've hit it.

PI is typically slow this time of year, lots of holiday hackers (like me).

They have had some issues with course maintenance this summer but seem to have steadied the ship.

If you’re staying down that way come for a round at Lang Lang.

F****d
Started ok, scrambled 17 pts on front 9, fell in a heap on back 9, 6 pts.
Short par 4 11th drove to 20 mts off the green, putted up to front of green, 5 mts from front pin, missed next 4 putts!
Brand new Pro V was smashed into the rough never to be seen again, game fell apart.
Greens were rock hard and lightening fast, the wind made it almost unplayable.
Our group of 8 regulars, highest score was 26 pts.
4 hr 35 min rd, one of my playing partners went off at the group ahead on the 12th hole after we’d been waiting 10 mins for them to get off the green…..magically they picked up the pace and weren’t an issue after that.
Course Marshall’s definitely not doing their job.
4hrs 35 is a fast round at Virginia Golf Club where I played last week for 22 points 😥
I played at Redcliffe Golf Club on Wednesday and had 30 points.
Today I played at Gailes Golf Club and had 28 points.
I’m not having and major blowouts but too many double bogeys and the occasional triple bogey to cripple my chances of a good round.

Just for your pleasure, Saturday at Golden Beach. Tee off at 8.30am, sucking on a froffie at 11am on the verandah!!

Anyone brave enough to have a hit in 45 degree weather today?
I was thinking about it as the course should be free but I dunno if I trust the Hilux to not blow up on the way home

Played at peninsula. Heat was hot. And my score reflected that (hot not in a good way). Just happy to spend time with mates and one from carnoustie.

Full 18? That's a fair effort to get out there before it gets too hot!

Played Mansfield over the weekend.

Condition was pretty good, and enjoyed the Par 3s but around that didn't find much to get me that excited. Short, tight holes which seem classic country.

Was good to get out there and have a hit, don't nearly play enough and it is showing now on the course.

Ground and Ground and ground at peninsula gc today.

Laboured through the first half of the holes. Head****ed. Didnt know what was going on. Focus absent. played to handicap on the back. Much concentration was required. Lost two balls. Found two balls. Then lost a found ball.

I DID IT!!!!!!
After 35 years I finally hit par for 18 holes.
Played the back 9 1st, was 3 under at the turn, dropped 4 shots in 3 holes, missed a golden birdie chance on 6 from 4 feet. I thought I'd blown it, that was a choke. I decelerated the club head and didn't make the distance. Parred the next two and stood on 18 (9th) tee needing a birdie. Drive was perfect, 3w was perfect, maybe 30m short of the green. Pitch went maybe 25m and I drained the putt for birdie and an even par 72. I'm absolutely stoked.
29 putts, 4 birdies. A bucket load of good shots.
I'm so happy, it's literally a dream come true. Nailing that last putt has been a lifetime of work.
Please feel free to celebrate as you see fit!
One of the best days of my life.

Awesome. I hate you. But awesome. Well done!

Double on 3 could’ve undone your good work but you kept it together.
I would've folded like a pack of cards.

Out of interest when did you 1st break 80? Thats my #1 goal.
I hit a 77 at Albert Park maybe 20 years ago.
I can still remember the round. I was 8 over after 6, made 3 birdies coming in then parred every hole on the back 9.
As for folding, I've been 2 under after 9 and hit a 76 (previous best) so I've totally done that before. A 73 would've devastated me today. The last putt on 9 to make birdie was a gem.
Breaking 80 is all about short game and putting., you've got to be able to scramble pars and stop blow-out doubles. Just practice from <50m and putting.

Golf in Japan.
Started at 5.10, out of the hotel for the 5.29 local from Shinjuku to Chiba. Arrived at Chiba at around 6.40, 35 min or so wait, then another 40 min train to Togane Station. 12 or so minute cab ride to HigashiChiba Country Club.
Checked in scorecard holder and key for the locker room given over and in to change. First time wearing pants on a golf course, also had a thermal shirt, golf shirt, jumper and jacket, and a beanie. 0 degrees at about 9.00am.
Head out of the club rooms to see the equipment bloke to get my clubs and couple of tokens for the driving range. 300 yen for 25 balls, about 3 bucks, Grabbed 2 of them. Bloke grabs the clubs, takes them to the cart and put them on the back for me.
Range is a little bit of a walk away, grab a driver, utility wedge and a 6, off I go. Range is flat for about 160m, then trails off up a hill, with trees creating a narrow alley giving a nice aim point.
Back up to the gathering area, bit of a problem, carts not there. Carts here there and everywhere, can't find it; off to the equipment bloke to find out what number it was.
Sorted, find it and find my playing group, 3 Japanese blokes, 0 English, me limited Japanese.
Odd to the first tee - very nervous as only gaijin I've seen at the club. 3 partners hit fairways, starter watching, another group behind watching. Nail it - straight down the middle.
2 pars to start, thinking I'm on here.
Next 2 holes, both 3 putts for doubles.
TBC

Sensational. What an effort to to 3 under to 1 over in 3 holes then hold it together again. Mental toughness. congrats
