Visited the Munori course today and played as well. Without accommodation but it had a real hotel feel about the entrance. inviting and exciting. a more forgiving track and more like what experienced in victoria, but of course not sandbelt. still tropical grass but for some reason the ball rolled on fairways better than other courses experienced. whatever.

it didnt rain, just spitting for a few mins. which was good.

putted well, averaging just over 2 putts a hole. played to handicap, under 90 shots. didnt lose a ball despite water.

what learned about japan golf is you come in after 9 for a delicious meal, and assigned a tee time in the same order as the front 9 after say 40 mins. a day of experience. its been like that throughout and okay with me. i like food.

I played in the Monthly Medal at Laidley Golf Club on Saturday. Shot 84/69 (par 71) to finish second two strokes behind the winner. It could have been so much better except for my four putt triple bogey on hole 7 and a disgraceful chip on 8 resulting in another triple bogey. I was a bit unlucky as well with the follow up chip landing on a stick and costing me probably two shots.

Mt Derrimut first thing on Sunday morning. Shotgun start. Perfect conditions.

I drove the ball better than I think I ever have across a round of 18. And then absolutely shit the bed with my irons and wedges and had a shocker of a round and ended with 19 points which is well below what I was hoping for.

Still, loved being out there. Love this dumb game.

Played Woodlands today. 32 points. X4 doubles, x2 from the centre of the fairway. Loved the bunkers. Great to get out of, some you don't want to be in though I found out.
Course is quite similar to home, a few better greens at W. is one difference. Tuna melt was delicious.

I'm a little bit disappointed you still sound so chipper about the game. I look forward to the darkness overtaking your soul.

I think it really hits once you've played a few rounds well. You start to think that all of your practice is paying off. That you have got 'it'. And then you go and play the next day and 'it' is gone. And then it comes back! And then it goes...and so the tortured story continues.

Brooks Koepka describes it as when you’ve got it going, you never think you’ll lose it, and when you lose it, you think it’s never coming back.

Couldn't get on any reciprocals today so had a hit at Sandringham public. Really short, so great for those new to the game, does punish a slicer though. Quite windy when we teed off, and playing with a couple of Scottish gents, decided to play everything and off the back foot. Did unload with the wind, nearly drove the 1st.
For a public course, it was pretty good.

Playing the worst golf of my life in the past couple of months. Cannot put two decent nine hole stretches together, it’s infuriating.

Eg, today’s comp round (started on the back nine):

Definitely on my list. Just gotta find the time. Got any pics to share?

Played at taiheiyo club konan course today not too far from tokyo. A real dogfight against the course and myself. Although reached 30 points it was a slog. Again, without extra roll i had to adjust. one of those rounds where you think you scored better than you actually did. Trouble off the tee doesnt help but at least was able to find balls generally.

lovely trees again with ample room downstairs when in the woods haha.

had chicken katsu for lunch after 9 then back out on a very full stomach.

staff were courteous and the facilities especially the locker rooms first class.
