Until the lightning hit the tree there was no sign of it. The lifetime locals that I was playing with said that lightning was very rare up there despite getting 6500mm of rain for that year and thunder doesn't always mean lightning.

Nah im 24 now so juniors was a while back. Havent played for a couple of years but even senior cricket, if it rains straight off.. and dont go back on untill the drizzle stops.

Just how you said it with the lightning and what not I assumed it was already coming down pretty hard

This may sound odd - especially to non-cricket fans - but playing and missing in cricket is such a gift. It's amazing how if you knick one straight up you're livid, yet when you play and miss a bit early and score runs you never looked like getting out. It's such a fine line. I found the better form I was in, the better chance I had of edging
