close one eye and you see it, close the other and you see it, open both and it's gone, put your finger on the end of your nose and you see the finger but no nose.

Is it really there or in our imagination?

Never understood why God gave us noses.

We can breath through our mouths and drain fluid throughout other apertures. Surely we could get buy with something a lot more discreet for smelling things. Seems like overkill to me.

Bloody stupid place to put it as well, gets full of dust and stuff.

Should have put our scent glands in our ears, kill two birds with one stone.

Even moreso now that you've mentioned it.

I hate it when someone mentions something that's annoying or puzzling them that didn't bother you and then you can't get it out of your head/vision/whatever.

It also filters the air you breathe - better to have dust in your nose than in your lungs...

it would be very hard to smell, since you cannot intake air with your ears. you only have very few molecules rushing near your eardrum.

and besides, smell is very much essential for survival in many species, humans though could survive without it.
