If Yze Leaves Melbourne He Could Head To Carlton,I Would Love To Have Him In A Navy Blue Jumper Next Year! :thumbsu: What Do You Think?

yea great idea ... why don't we offer them a package of Waite/Simpson and our pick 4 for him .... a soft 29yr old forward pocket wanting a big pay day .... just what we need as we look to rebuild

Ahh yes lets delist our an own old hacks just to get other old hacks from other clubs. Would prefer to keep Lappin then get that soft Demon.

only if he comes for a cheap trade, and will play for minimal money. not possible. shouldn't trade picks at all, and psd pick should be kept for a guy like salopek, or polak, if available.

NO! If we go for people nearing the end of their career, than we're just going to hurt ourselves and be right back where we started in a couple of years. If he were five years younger, why not, but not at his age. We've gotta recruit quality youngsters, no more filling gaps with players who couldn't make it at another club or are gonna retire soon.

Any chance of Yze and Melbourne's first or second rounder for Whitnall.

Melbourne have stated they would pay Whitnall $400 grand and they might be making room for him by trading Yze. Just an idea..seems unusual that Melbourne would play hardball with such a long-term, consistent performer after offering so much earlier in the year.

BTW...he just turned 28 and is not injury prone so you could get a good 4-5 years out of him. Having said that, more interested in getting some younger midfielders and defenders.

As has been mentioned he's only just turned 28 and is about to break Stynes' consecutive games record.

If you can get him for 200,000 to 240,000 a year, then I'd take him. Any more might be counter-productive.

I think we can take this theory, of getting rid of everyone over 25, too far.
------------------
It's not a ten year process as some people like to suggest.

People tend to over-estimate the differences in teams from line-to-line in this draft era. Clubs can quickly strengthen 3-4 positions in the starting 18 and move from wooden spooners to sure-fire flag favourites.

Getting into the "Robert Walls Syndrome," of making blanket statements based on whichever way the wind is blowing is silly.

picking up yze at 29 would be taking a step backwards, we need to be looking at youth and players who will give us a min of 5 years service

IMO if we are going to pick up a 29 year old, it should only be for a KP backmen

You are over rating Whitnall. Yze is a much better player alone, why would Melbourne give up an early draft pick. More like the other way round.

Agree. Need to concentrate on key defenders and midfielders and hopefully get a ruckmen also. Our forward line is better than any other area in teh side at the moment.

Yze is 28 and Lance 26. Yze had a poor year and Lance a good year.

If the price was right we would be crazy to knock back Yze. His a gun player who was injured this year and moved foward where he still had impact taperred off towards the end of the year ofcourse.

This is ridiclous focusing so hard on youth if theres a chance to get a quality player u get him, u need a mix of players and Yze would be great, your kidding yourself !!!!!!

soft, inconsistent, flashy, goal sneak cum winger in addition to being 29. The very last combination of factors we should be looking at bringing to the club.

Totally wrong. He is 28 not 29.

The rest is 100% on the money though. :D

Yze had a poor finish to the year, but still managed to kick 41 goals unlike our Jason Cloke. But I wouldn't take Eze ball-gets for Lance.

Lance is traded for a younger player or a draft pick or a combination of the 2. Not for 28 year olds who are front runners.

The only reason I wouldn't want Yze is because he is 28 and will be 29 next year. He isn't soft. He was injued for a good part of this year and still kicked 40-odd goals mainly as a forward pocket.

He would walk straight into our midfield and be a gun. The guy can play and isn't getting the respect he deserves on this thread. He can play as a defender, winger or forward but is best as a midfield/ruck-rover. He is a beautiful kick, has great vision, gets plenty of it and kicks goals. I wonder how many players we have that do that?!

Soft. Cannot play midfield. Does not tackle.

Interesting considering he was the leading kick-getter in the AFL a year or two ago. He is a genuine midfielder who gets plenty of it. Disagree to him being soft.

He played 23 games and had 56 tackles this year.
Half of our side had more than that. The only regulars he had more than was Fevola and Whitnall.
Even guys like Lappin had more. Houlihan had the same amount from 6 less games.

I must have been watching different games to you as I saw Melb gettting absolutely smashed in the midfield towards the end of the season and Yze still not being played there.

Yze is a classic front runner and kicks bags of goals against poor sides and when it does not count.

Being a leading kick getter a few years ago is not hard when you kick the ball 90% of the time.

Can one more person say he's 29, after it's already been said he isnt? lol

I don't think he's soft at all, but I can understand why people get that perception.

I don't think he should be involved in a Whitnall trade however.

If you could kick like him you would kick 90% of the time aswell. He was injured for most for most of the year, hence playing forward all the time and not laying as many tackles as he would playing in the midfield.

This term "soft" is thrown around way too easily. It sits well with a guy like Houlihan who avoids any contact but Yze is a much better player who won't avoid contact.

If a player like Yze is "soft" because he is smart, a guy who runs the lines and is a finisher in the Dees team then are the Lappins, Johnstone, Green, Bruce "soft" also? I don't think they are.
