I don't know if this guy has been done to death. I had a look through the last few pages of the thread and couldn't find anything.

It is always good to see a young guy written off given a second chance. It is especially good to see the young guy take the chance and become a high quality AFL player.

Dawson was not playing on 'power forwards' last night so his job was made somewhat easier. After being a bit jittery against Collingwood he seemed entirely comfortable amidst the pressure of the second half of last nights game. He took two or three big (and very important marks) when needed to and was a solid player.

I am not sure what Hawthorn didn't see in him. He is a great height, speed and generally kicks the ball well. He will be a seriously good key defender with a few more years and kilos. It is not like they didn't and don't need key defenders.

Dawson should go on to become a 10 year player for St Kilda so props to Zac for being resilient and to Lyon for having the balls to recycle players :thumbsu:

Good luck next week.

i found he played an absolute killer role down back..
i for one am glad this kid has got a second chance, because everyone deserves one.
i agree with you mate, he will become a 10+ year player for the Saints.

Oh and one last thing:

Go the saints!! :)
Good luck guys. I know you will do it!!

Thought he played very well last night. Took some good grabs and switched play well at times. The Saints defense was under massive pressure for most of the game.

One criticism is that he should sometimes have more confidence to take the game on instead of looking to hand off (or tap on as was last night)!

He's great isnt he. Talk about answering critics. Whats even greater is he can play Key Position back, tall and Short and when he leaves defensive 50 he looks good too like Gilbert.

Brilliant coaching.

Good onya Zac! Stick it right up us!

Big mistake by us not playing him last year and giving him another chance to prove his worth before delisting him. Made to look worse by the fact that all our other back-up talls ended up being out injured for most of the year.

Poetic justice, here's hoping karma is satisfied now and we can all just move on...

Great call :thumbsu:

I hope you absolutely give it to Geelong next week, they will beat Collingwood tonight wont they, and this so called "best team ever" only ends up with 1 flag.
Go Sainters:thumbsu:

i am so rapped he got to play after the ^%$$ media trying to influence your coach into dropping him , i am sure your coach can decide himself on that matter !

i am hoping that they don't drop him for the big one , i am nearly sure it won't happen but you never can be sure.

i hope they don't cause he has played all games except when he was suspended ! and has earnt the right to play !
if you guys win i am going to make sure i get to one of your training sessions [may take till next year ] in my hawk gear to congratulate him !
he does know me and knows i have supported him 100% at the hawks and am watching how he goes with you guys !
i can not wait till saturday ! and i am hoping that you guys win !

can some one tell triple m they still owe the hawk supporter a movie ticket for me ! thanks !

Some of those contested marks he took were brilliant! Any chance of him getting dropped just about out the window. Maybe RL told him that? :p
Rather unfortunate choice of phrase, A2R... if anything happens to him this week, the cops might come knocking on your door!

I think it's just great, the Cinderella story of the whole thing. All the media morons are just Cindy's 2 ugly sisters.
