A-League Crowds 12/13

Think that was a shocking crowd even with the weather last night. It all comes down to the marketing of that club again.

Its about time Heart look at a market. For to long they have tried to do the "new football", "youth" rubbish. Going head to head with Victory wont work and its showing. They tried Morewell but failed. Maybe its time to crack Geelong. A couple of games at Kardina. With the deal that they have at Swan St they will end in the gutter just like Gold Coast. Personay they should have been Geelong based from the get go but thats another topic.

Exactly. I just don't get where Heart's improvement is going to come from. They seem to have a lot of fans who will say 'I go for Heart' but couldn't give two shits if the team is losing. They seem to be built around the 'Anti-Muscat' brigade and the people who wanted their own team from scratch after the Victory made soccer in Melbourne as big as it is.

The club just doesn't make sense. They claim the youth angle and sign old players, they claimed the Dutch angle with Vant Schipp who was supposed to be going home after he quit (aka Heart can't afford him) and went to Mexico instead, and now they've got a cheap Aloisi. They're linked to every big player in the book like Owen, Kewell, even Carlos despite never ever having a chance at signing them (their PR guy is great in this respect - somehow they're always in the media).

With the deal that even cripples the Victory at AAMI I can't see how this club will be sustainable. A combination of them struggling and Victory playing well would mean sub 5k crowds, which won't see them stick around long term.

They didn't "try" Morwell, it was a compulsory regional game. A couple of games in Geelong might be an option, but a future team in Geelong might render that a bit pointless. What is their deal at Swan St?

We've seen good crowds of 9-11k before after just 1 or 2 good results, so the potential is there for a good base with improved performances/results. Plus our average crowd with the derby boost is actually pretty decent.

I don't know what the lowest ever crowd is for a Melb/Syd game but that figure would have to rate very low. I was expecting 40k for last night's game. In season 2 at Etihad there was 55k at a Melb v Syd game, 34k more than last night.

Really, really don't know what the frak was going on with the crowd yesterday at Hindmarsh. Really should have been more.

North end made plenty of noise though. Probably one of our best games in that regard :p

Wasnt the easiest to hear the attendance at the ground so I'm not certain, but it sounded like 7,910. PG vs WP
