HEEHEE

B: Jonas - Carlile - Hombsch
HB: Broadbent - Trengove - Pittard
C: Polec - Wines - Hartlett
HF: Monfries - Schulz - Wingard
F: Gray - Butcher - Westhoff
R: Lobbe - Ebert - Boak
I: Moore, Cornes, O'Shea
S: Young/Stewart

Unsure about Butcher, not a good game against Essendon but still managed 4 shots at goal and him just being there helped Westhoff and Schulz a lot. Small forwards with this team may still be a big problem though.

Back flank options: Pittard, Broadbent, Colquhoun, O'Shea, Stevenson, Impey

Choco would be nursing some serious wood. As much as I want Pittard on a wing, good luck fitting him into our midfield rotation as well! Seriously awesome dilemma to have!

Leaving most players playing 2/3 preseason games. And only Heath, Mitchell, Redden and Russell as unsighted throughout preseason.

Who did Colquhoun play on against Carlton last time? From memory that was one of his better games and we got torn apart right after he got subbed off.

This was incredibly hard to pick, but I think the AFL team could be something like this:
B: Jonas ~ Carlile ~ Hombsch
HB: O'Shea ~ Trengove ~ Impey
C: Hartlett ~ Wines ~ Polec
HF: Monfries ~ Westhoff ~ Wingard
F: Butcher ~ Schulz ~ R.Gray
R: Lobbe ~ Boak ~ Ebert
IC: Moore, Cornes, White
Sub: Colquhoun
Emergency: Broadbent, Pittard, Newton

As I said, it was hard to pick this team. Could not split Colquhoun and Newton for the sub spot, apart from the fact that Colquhoun probably adds slightly more versatility. Broadbent could also be fighting it out with Hombsch or Impey for that last backline spot. Not sure how Pittard could slot in at this stage.
Updated, and will do a final one just before round 1:

B: Jonas ~ Carlile ~ Hombsch
HB: O'Shea ~ Trengove ~ Pittard
C: Hartlett ~ Wines ~ Polec
HF: Monfries ~ Westhoff ~ Wingard
F: Butcher ~ Schulz ~ R. Gray
R: Lobbe ~ Boak ~ Ebert
IC: Moore, Cornes, Broadbent
Sub: Impey
Emergency: Colquhoun, White, Newton

Again, not easy to pick the team. Pittard and Broadbent are fighting it out for the starting spot on the HB line, and the sub spot at this stage is between Impey, White and Colquhoun. Leaning towards Impey, and White's spot should not be guaranteed just because 'we promised'.

i think i only replaced hombsch with pittard from last post. kenny said we have around 30 first team quality players battling for the spots, i think here is 29 of them!

Geez there some really good footballers I just can't squeeze in. All those guys Simba has listed could come in and do a great job. I'm also a fan of Heath. I think he's a real class player, who is really composed with the footy. Hombschy doesn't deserve to be omitted from the NAB side but who do you drop/not include? Stewart is another very effective player for us, similar to Young, I considered dropping Butcher for him but Ken won't. Matt White will play round 1 imo. Ken will select him which probably means Young misses out from my line up. I rate Young above White, they are different but I think Youngy hurts the oppo more than White right now. And The Dom! It's a good sign when he doesn't make the side because he's such an effective team player. Barring injuries, the round 1 selection meeting could be a long night for selectors.

You're right. was that Gibbs he was playing on? Once there was no defensive side needed to his game he took us to the cleaners. Can't remember exactly how much we were up but it was a significant lead about 10 minutes into the third quarter.

Wouldnt surprise at all given how their runners have chopped us up over the years, including last qtr in '13 game st home.

Yarran and Garlett will pose a threat round 1.

I wonder if we'll play a few more kids and fringe players against St Kilda. Players like Stevenson, Heath, Newton, Amon, Harvey, Shaw, and Impey may get a call up at some stage depending on form and injuries so you'd want them to get as much experience of our game plan as possible.

Would love Flynn to get another run.

Nah I think that the strategy for the Essendon and St Kilda games has been to go as full strength as possible in preparation for round 1.

It would be good to give Harvey and Shaw another run to see how they perform with a good midfield passing the ball to them.

Yeh agree. With only two games to get the team balance right (incl. the Essendon game) the selected side will almost certainly contain the round 1 22 team, with Schulz the obvious exception.
