Considered adding McKenzie, thought he was OK in the sim, and as we approach round 1 I'm getting a bit more hesitant to not player three 'talls' in the backline. But holding off for now.

Georgiades - Is performing so badly at the moment it is very difficult to see how he can play. He is literally doing nothing right. Needs to find form at SANFL.
Jones - Would prefer to see him play down back but not very many openings at the moment. Put him as the sub as he has some versatility.

In:
Drew- Has done some really good stuff in the preseason so far and I like the flexibility he has to lock down on someone if they are getting off the leash. Also some much needed size in the midfield while Ollie is resting.
Teakle - Mostly in for tactical reasons in that I want to see Dixon primarily situated in the forward line and Teakle can take second ruck duties. Also been impressed with his ability to compete in the forward line at times.

I think we need that third tall in the forward line . When we come up against intercept markers with no like for like opponent they tend to cut off too many attacks , I’m not sure Georgiades is helping enough keeping that player out of the game so I’d play the smarter Finlayson who can also second ruck when there’s a good match up .

I wouldn’t be surprised if we include Teakle as a ruck/forward to maintain a four tall forward structure. For him to be replaced by Finlayson when he’s back from injury.

Yes, if there's one thing we know about Ken Hinkley it's that he'd never allow our forward structure to be compromised.

The selectors seem to have a hard on for Teakle when he really hasn’t shown much at all, apart from kicking a couple of bags in the SANFL.
I think for Teakle to make it, it has to be as a forward that chops into the ruck as he definitely doesn’t have the tools to be an AFL number 1 ruck

Yes Georgiades needs to play some SANFL and build his confidence.
I lik Jones in the team , he gets to a lot of contests , I like Bergman in , I’m not sold on Farrell, he’s a luxury that we can’t afford at this stage .
I like Duursma in . I’d only play Lycett when he’s going to at Least break even , there’s certain players like Darcy and at least 3 others that he just doesn’t seem to be able to go with .
Play Hayes against the big contested beasts , he can at least win the taps .

Is It?? 83 games vs 8. 26yr old vs 19. Proven player in finals games vs a kid who's still learning his craft. Personally, I'd get DBJ out for Jase and go back to or normal HB line - Bonner - Alir - Houston

Meh. This is going to be another wasted year of playing senior players out of form/over the hill, instead of the future. Ken's coaching to save his job, so he'll make his (IMO) no. 2 signature mistake - selecting the players that have failed him over and over (mistake no. 1 is go small no matter the circumstances, thankfully that's finally, mostly, gone).

If we were at all serious about building for our next flag attempt, rather than scraping into finals and proclaiming 'We're back baby!', we wouldn't be playing Lycett or Jonas all year. With Dixon down back alongside AA and Pasini as our KPD's, with McKenzie and Clurey as injury coverage only. DBJ would be banished to the SANFL until he can string 4 or 5 good games in a row together. Boak would be playing SANFL to provide leadership and show the rest of the players the training standard required. None of this is happening, so I'm not going to waste my time worrying if we win or lose. We lose either way.
