Footy classified brought up some interesting stuff on the coaches. Hutchie who is good friends with Thompson said that Thompson would prefer the GC job over Essendon but if he is offered the dons job first he will take it. Hutchie was saying GC should just offer him the job right now and they will get their man. You would think then that Bass would be a shoe in for the dons job. We might not have the time our club thinks we do.

There is no way that Bickley is safe, contract or not. He is a shithouse forward coach. Perhaps the new head coach will see a use for him. I personally would prefer a whole new panel, which is what bloody Sanderson should have had the balls to do in the first place.

If he has any ambition to ever be a head coach, he'd be going elsewhere. Hell, he should have walked out the door when Sando was given the job. Perhaps nobody else wants him. Actually, that makes a lot of sense.

My JFClarko theory....

Sando sacked so Adelaide have a dip at Clarko via manager.

Manager tells Clarko that its time to check his valuation.

Manager asks Crows what they are willing to pay as he would be really interested in speaking with them if the offer was around $X million over Y years.

Crows dig into future membership sales and agree and get really excited but keep on down low to avoid rocking the boat on negotiations. Some in the know people do findout however (Croweater?) but are really coy with the rumour as this deal involving a high profile target is huge.

Manager thrilled with Clarko's payrise but needing it to be common knowledge (as Clarko does not want to coach the Crows) he looks to leak the story to any media muppet that would take it to materilise the offer to the public. Proving difficult as they tried this a year earlier with WCE and burnt a high profile reporter in the process they finally find the king of muppets in Adelaide willing to leak the story.

Once offer is leaked by Jars with specific details Clarko was able to deny and his manager conveniently cancels negotiations on the basis there was a leak and it scared him off.

Clarko and manager sit back smoking cigars comfortable with an potentially even higher price on his head for when he resigns with Hawks (or rival Vic club - Collingwood?) at the end of next year.

To save face those that were coy desperately use Bolton as the high profile target.

Crows board have to follow through and go with a rookie coach dumb enough to go up against Ken Hinkley in a two club town.

The simple fact is, that the supporters will not crucify you if Bass does stuff up. However, losing Bass and then appointing someone else may give the impression of sloppy seconds and supporters baying for blood when things go pear shaped.
