Just because my views aren't always the same as yours, doesn't mean I'm complaining.

You like it, I don't, so what.

A paragraph is designed to denote a change of thought while speaking about the same subject. I replied to your assertion that it was a ten hour rush job...the part about people complaining was a generalization and not specifically directed at you.

How are the 11 game memberships going?

Am a little surprised at the attitude toward so called "bandwagoners" from some. A class system approach is counter productive to the goal at hand, a strong club with a secure future. The reality is that in these days of high competition for a potentially shrinking discretionary entertainment dollar we will see ebb and flow of membership numbers. That is what marketing is about and it is obvious to me that our strategy is working very well and should be commended. Likewise those who re-engage with the club should be welcomed back and the hope is that we retain more of them the next time we see a downturn in onfield performance.

We should be struggling together!

The dark years weren't all bad. I could leave my home in Queenstown and be in my seat within 20 minutes. I could park closer to the ground. I didnt have to line up to get food, drink or take a piss. I could just about sit anywhere and if I felt antisocial during a humiliating loss I could go sit in an entire bay by myself and sulk. I still have trouble working out what disturbed me more at the football from those years. Was it our performances, our small crowds, having to stand behind a yellow line or face constant harassment from weslo or was it lids on beers and being treated like a child at AAMI by their staff? Lids on beers is probably at the top of the list still.

Adelaide Oval...no lids :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:
Now that you mention those ridicuulous lids on beers i'm having bad flashbacks to the times when you couldn't even drink at your seat.

Yep, trying to smash down a couple at each break and then dashing back to the seats. Too often when performing poorly or it was raining it would turn into "lets watch this quarter from the bar".

I'm marrying a Crows supporter next weekend.

Looks like I have some thinking to do.....

"Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today in the presence of God and these witnesses, to join Stryke and a Crows supporter in matrimony, which is commended to be honourable among all men; and therefore – is not by any – to be entered into unadvisedly or lightly – but reverently, discreetly, advisedly and solemnly. Into this holy estate these two persons present now come to be joined. If any person can show just cause why they may not be joined together – let them speak now or forever hold their peace."

57,604 people showing just cause is going to take a long time, mate - better to just convert her to number 57,606

That Collingwood game........I can't remember much after half time, so that's a good thing.

When I first met my wife she was a crows supporter, didn't take her long to change to Port Adelaide.
The wheel will turn my friend...;)

Yeah, usually they're not all that interested in football anyway and are only Crows by default. Once they realise the Port boys are better looking it doesn't take much to convert them.

I like the commercial, didn't try to sell anything just say thank you. Acknowledged the tough times and how strong the supporter base has become. Mention of crows is friendly banter, like the chad line. It's different from the combative adds of most other clubs and struck a nice tone I thought.

I'm with you in this. Pretty professional the way they put it together. I came here to heap praise on the advert and was surprised by people's reaction so far. The Crows jibe was a joke. Our rivalry does exist and it's an important part of what we look forward to in this state. To be honest they are import to us. Who else are we gonna crush?

We are marketing our recent tradition in the ad. Never give up, the long walk, and the struggles of our past to the stars of our future. No gimmicks, just a reflection on what has happened so far and a implied promise of more to come. And topping it off with Thank you. I think that is one of our better adverts and it was put together with very clever marketing psychology.

Yep.

She is the epitome of a default supporter. In the 90's she was at the perfect age to get swept up in Modra mania and the premierships. From memory she has been to two Crows games the 5 years we have been together and she would never go out of her way to actually watch a game on TV.

Just from association she knows so much more about Port these days, and as I posted in the General thread, she casually mentioned yesterday that she wants to come to a Port game this year. I'm gradually chipping away at it. So long as my 14 month old son sees the light when he is old enough I will be able to get her on board. It's the long game. She was legit upset after the Elimination final.

I will never forget her comment after the Freo final last year 'You know that I don't go for Port but it actually seems like they have a few good players'. Bless her cotton socks.

Personally, I love the fact we acknowledge our recent hard times rather than sweep it under the carpet which is the usual modus operandi. It highlights just how special the turnaround is.

If you extrapolate using the last fortnight's figures(1363) then we will reach 60,000 in 1.75 fortnights or by 20/4. If you extrapolate using last week's figures(540) then we reach 60,000 in 4.44 weeks or by 27/4. I used to be a whiz at maths when I was at school. Unfortunately, it wasn't trendy to be a nerd at the time and unlike what Hollywood tries to tell us, you didn't get sexy girls rubbing up against you trying to get you to do their homework.

At least its at the start of the season not finals time

It's not the people who left and came back that phase me,as I live in Perth and always have a Port hat or shirt on I'm forever meeting people who walk up and say oh nice shirt are you a Port fan etc then ya talk to em and get the I only jumped on last week or year or whatever that get me.I'll talk footy with em which is always a limited conversation with those type of fans but part of me doesn't like it or that band wagon type.Cos deep down you know if someone else wins a few they'll jump over to that one.Now if a band wagoner of that type commits, buys into who we are as a club, goes all in I'll appreciate them more and I've met a few of that type, hell I've turned a few of the bandwagoners to members over here.Anyone can jump on our bandwagon their all welcome, but it takes a special type to commit into this club as a fan as we all know,Port Adelaide is more then us winning or losing each week,it's a passion and a way of life.
