So we currently have moved into the top 4 for the 1st time since Round 1 but must beat Collingwood Friday night to maintain our spot.

With Sydney losing last week the game in hand to them has gone with us still to play Syd and the other team above us WC other then Freo then 2nd spot on the ladder is now in our own hands we keep winning we have 2nd lose and we could be anyway in the 8

Just had a look at our next 6 games. There's one, lone, solitary relatively 'easy' game in that lot. We play 5th tonight, 1st next week, 2nd the week after, a resurgent tigers the week after (who have beaten 1st and 2nd and have a good record against us in recent years), and then after Carlton we play the wEagles in Perth. And with one of our absolute best out of action indefinitely, we are truly about to see what the Hawks of '15 are made of...

We are one hell of a tough team though.

Scary block of matches. On the big stage the big boys come to play. We are the only team that in past history has taken on adversity head on. No cry babies at hawthorn.

The reality is we have not beaten any contender this year. We have also lost to mediocre teams, apart from Sydney. Port a huge failure this season so far.

Lose tonight and it is over.

I don't know why people are worried about our draw, unlike the other teams it isn't like we have to play Hawthorn.

You are right, however on game day Supporters such as myself are nervous. That fear of losing and hearing that final siren when you are so close but far is gut wrenching. The ecstasy of victory on the other hand is enhanced when you have doubt.

Dunstal said that the first quarter from port against us was possibly the most pure quarter of football he's ever seen.
They just beat us.

Every team to beat us this year has played out if their skins.
Our average loosing margin is less than a goal.
It's easy to simply say that "we've lost to average teams this year"

Exactly. That was a perfect storm. Every 50/50 moment went their way and we were caught flat footed and our defensive structures in disarray after Lake went down (and Frawley out).

We then worked back most of a 10 goal margin over 3 quarters.

Good teams can have bad quarters. Bad teams don't do the latter however.

I don't know how many times I have heard coaches say that the competition is so even now any team can beat anyone on any given day.

We should make the top 4, even top 2, and if we don't we will only have a few poor quarters throughout the season. We have played poor quarters and won, but those lapses are why we have lost 4 games.

Tonight's game is just another step to the top. (Where we belong.)

Actually, I've had a look back through our recent fixtures and apparently we haven't been rostered ANY GAMES against hawthorn, the triple-grand-finalist, back-to-back premiers!

There must be some sort of fixturing bias going on for us to dodge that bullet year after year. #impeachmclauchlan

You guys..
There is no way you will not finish top 2 and do the 3peat.
As all footy fans acknowledge, your best, which we are yet to see this year, is simply the best.
When it is really on the line, there is no team that can beat you in September or October in Melbourne.

Collingwood are the October GF specialists, so they are my get out of jail team, but they just do not have the class this year to make it to GF day. Pity though, would be an awesome GF.
Next year- Pies Hawks.
This year, Hawks Freo, and we know the result. Beware WCE, but they can not beat Freo.

We have a tough block of games right now and we'll need to do it without Roughead and Frawley. Lose to either Swans or Eagles and we'll be at least 2 games off 2nd spot. And I looked at the Eagles draw last night and it doesn't get significantly harder.

Hawthorn are still very precariously placed. We should still be a decent shot from 3rd or 4th spot though.

Yes, we are indeed. What a game of inches and tiny units of measurement it is, it's very tough to think that a lousy 2 more seconds in the 1st Bombers game and we'd be sitting in 3rd, above Sydney, and one game off Freo in 1st, whom we play next week in Tassie. Oh, what could have been....

Had we lost Friday night we'd be just one game off 8th too. Next 4-5 rounds is going to see a lot of movement.

Playing around with ladder predictor and I've got us finishing everywhere from 1st to 4th. We'll just have to let the season play out and hit the finals with everything we've got.
Most interesting thing is I get the pussy cats missing the 8 by half a game though...
I get us about 10th.
We are way off the pace in MF and ruck, and NM will still finish above us, as should Pies, Crows, Tigers, Dogs.
Top 4 Freo, Haw, WCE, Swans, not in any order.
GWS and Port are hard to read, as is NM. We are in that group; no threat to any top 4 teams, but we can, on a good day, push bottom-4 -top -8 teams.
Current teams at 10, 11, 12, 13 are all from 2014 top 8.
There is NO team that would look fwd to playing Haw in a final, and NO team that Haw thinks it could really struggle with. Except that dreaded prelim final. That is the difference, imho, between Hawks and the rest.

Is it just me, or are the teams above us looking just slightly scratchy and beatable?
Yep. And us. And the teams in the group immediately below us. Only sides in good form at the moment are too far out of the 8 to matter.
