Selwood incident

The only thing he was attempting to do there was cause injury. Deserves 3+. What a rat
What a low life Selwood is. Should be weeks for that. Deliberate attempt to dislocate Wright's shoulder. But as per usual the AFL's pin up boy will be given a get out of gaol card.
was heaving on Wright's shoulder, he knew exactly what he was doing...
Trust me, I'm truly fighting the urge not to rant, but please, to everyone of the opinion that Selwood should get weeks, go back and look very closely at the footage. Selwood had Wright's arm pinned for the best part of 2 seconds. He did not heave onto Wright's shoulder, and that's contradictory to the point of most here, that Selwood was trying to push his arm further up Wright's back. What happened was, Selwood ran and tackled Wright to the ground, and as players came to solidify the tackle, he pinned Wright's arm so he couldn't get rid of the ball. When support came and aided the tackle, Selwood went up and held the pin vertically, not pulling on the shoulder, but simply holding vertically on Wright's back, letting out his frustration. A true chicken-wing would have been is Selwood locked the arm and pushed it against it's natural force to definitively injure one's shoulder. If Selwood had the intent to injure, he would have pushed the arm pin much further along his back, which he didn't.

Selwood merely stretched Wright's shoulder, like a remedial therapist would. Any damage would have been caused by the other North Melbourne player coming in and violently pushing Selwood backwards as he held his arm.
You're totally right, Selwood was just attempting to give him a correction, much like a chiro or remedial therapist would

It wasn't as bad as Judd's chicken wing, but it's still a ******* s**t thing to do. Should get weeks for it.

News just in: North's physio was wearing a Geelong jumper rather than the normal gear last night. All good folks, play on.

But he did heave.. Watch the video. He grits his teeth like you do when pulling heavy weight. He heaved with full force. Deserves 2 weeks minimum but if they're consistent with Judd then give him 4.

But do you agree that the stress to Wright's shoulder would have been much greater when his team mate gave Selwood a big shove in the chest that flipped both of them over? What Selwood did alone would have caused discomfort not an injury.

Selwood is no saint and he has some adapting to do as the captain of a struggling team, but if one deals in the facts-one suspension in his career at this point would suggest he is not a dirty player.
He deserves a week, and the north player who didn't help by cannoning into him probs deserves more!;)

Not a good look from Joel. And this is far from the first time; he clearly cannot hack it when things are not going his way.

Would hope the afl can review his engagement with auskick etc as an ambassador following this latest incident.

Don't want to see this sort of thing becoming common place in junior footy (along with incessant whining and ducking).

You're kidding, right? Should we suspend his teammate instead, who would have literally no reason to shove Selwood if he hadn't seen him chicken-winging someone?

Intentional, medium force, in play.

No idea how that equals but seeing how the north player had that shoulder taped Selwood did it for a reason.

And that reason was to prevent him from getting a handball out.

I just have to post here to say, the calls by a very few about Swallow doing a chicken wing must be snorting something really weird.
Really, what would say he was doing to Josh Walkers arm?

Tackling him and still had hold of him getting up and let go almost instantly, absolutely nothing in it and is far from comparable from Selwood's. Force, length of time held, actually during the tackle and not continuing with it afterwards, not as nearly as malicious. Swallow tackled, pinned the arms, was getting up from said tackle whilst still holding his arm and immediately let go, nothing in it all.

Only problem with your thesis is Walker didn't have the ball
