To be fair, I think a lot of the flak he cops is due to the fact the game he played was one of the bigger debacles of the past decade (and there have been plenty of them). Fairly or otherwise, debuting in that game and getting only 1 disposal has made him the face of that game.

He is a defender. If he stops his opponent that's all he needs to do. It appears he is playing wing now but the point is still relevant.

Ben Rutten was a sensational FB who hardly touched the footy.

He is no star, but I can think of far worse performances at AFL level from VFL players than Maxy's debut - including Siera, BMac, Black and Daw just for starters in recent times.

That's a 100% better effort than Boomer in his first game.

And Max has had as many possessions in one solitary game as Boomer has had hit outs in a 20 year, 401 game career.

All the best Max, can't question his commitment to the club. From what I've been told he was really well liked and very professional.

Actually really liked Max, played well every time I watched VFL games. Reliable but probably lacks a standout attribute.
