Your supposition knocks out Hawthorn and Geelong straight away. Sydney in 2012 for Cola. Collingwood in 2010 for Priority picks.

is it 2006 for West Coast? ah wait, drugged to the eyeballs, nope.
2005 for Sydney? did they have Cola then?
2004 for Port - draft concessions, paying all the players to hide
Don't remember how much of a leg up Brisbane got with the merge.

Gee, is it Essendon in 2000?

You could nearly get all the way back to us!

Was pontificating last night and wondered,

Australia. A capitalist society where the unions have no power.
AFL. A 'socialist' society where the unions have all the power.
Neither are run satisfactorily.

West coast also had a priority pick by the name of C.Judd who played in the premiership side. priority pick in the super draft is not a bad piece of luck.

Well, it was mentioned Carlton have spoken to Treloar and offered him a deal if a trade doesn't eventuate with Collingwood. Doubt it'd be the Crows.

If we just end up with Hampton I'm going to go postal. We need to land some A grade talent with Danger out.

This shit is depressing so far. Hampton and M.Talia wont even cover 1% of Dangers output. I'm going to wait and see but I'm hanging on a knife edge.

Bennell, Redden, Aish, Dixon all available half from SA we aren't even in the conversation FFS.

Jeffcrowe says we need to be patient and it will all work out. Much like last year I suppose :p

I think the cats will give us 9 and some how we will get 14 from the afl. This will leave us 9 13 14 and 30. If we could trade next years 1st pick for another one this year, we could end up will 5 picks in the first 30. Then we could have a great draft and they will all come on together and in 3 years it will be great.
All we need are quick mids and a kpd. We should be ready to have a realistic crack at the flag in 2 or 3 years

I've been thinking that too. So the comp comes our way first. Then we have to do a deal for 9 that the AFL will sanction. So 9 to us for our second (31) and a player. Someone like Grigg won't cut it as he won't bring the value up to 9. My only thoughts are someone like Henderson - he is a first 22 selected player on, apparently, slightly above average $. Could also be a top 22 player for them. Maybe this is why we have chased Seedsman -as replacement for Hendo?

Out; Danger, Hendo, 31
In; 9; 14

Interesting that given the AFC policy on keeping info in-house none of Menzel, Hampton, Seedsman or Mayes are yet to declared their position publicly
Err Hampton has named Adelaide. Menzel, Seedsman and Mayes are all contracted and only one of them is freely meeting with clubs in hope of regular game. The other two have barely been mentioned in a month.

What's with all the dislike for Hampton? Kid looks like he will be a solid player in the future.
Anyone know milera's predicted draft placing?

Don't think there is any dislike for Hampton, he is a good prospect and could be a great pickup.

Its more to do with what we are losing in Danger.

People are hoping we manage to pick up a proven A grader as main course, whereas Hampton is the entree on proven form.

We will have a lot of cash to throw around and draft picks (hopefully), so would have plenty of currency to attract a big name.

Having said that, until the Danger deal is done, we probably don't know exactly what currency we do have.

Its probably wise not to splash a big name around until we have our chips on the table if there is a big name.

Are you ******* crazy? :)

Carlton have a new coach as do Essendon.

We might be ok with the timings but the timings are absolutely down to us

This holds so much weight if the coach doesn't end up as Pyke.

If it does, the fact they were in a GF only has given us a week to negotate with him.

Maybe dislike is the wrong word. Just seems people are a bit non-fussed with him nominating us and most probably playing for us next year.

Hope we score something worthwhile for danger, but the pesermist in me says that the vfl will look after the vfl.

Essendon's premiership team of 2000 had father son selection dustin Fletcher

Leaving no time for the resultant trade to discourage matching
There's 4 days between close of free agency and close of trade period, but seriously, they've been talking well before trade period even started, so if Geelong did that to us and refused to trade over decent currency, I'm fine with sending Dangerfield into the draft.

Just stop. There's nothing to go postal about. We have no coach, it is near impossible to convince players to come to a coachless club. It's not the club's fault we are coachless.

We have managed to get Curtley Hampton to ask to come to our club when we don't have a coach, that is a ******* miracle in my book and all involved need a pat on the back.

Yep, really came out of nowhere. We could never have predicted 3 months ago that we would need to sort out our coaching situation before trade week.
