EUFA EURO 2024 - Group Stage ⚽ EPL 24/25 starts Aug 17
More a young Curnow type... Def forward over mid... But flexible. Is caddy actually a KPF?? Or is he more a jake stringer/degoey type at AFL??
It's hilarious isn't it.Rowey finally got around to reading the Port board from a fortnight ago
Rowey Reports Port Champ Is On Cats Radar
Port Adelaide star Ollie Wines is on the radar of Geelong coach Chris Scott, says Stephen Rowe. Rowey told the FIVEAA sports show the tip-off came from a Port Adelaide “person of note”: “This chap and me aren’t saying he’s going,” Rowey told Timmy G. “[Wines] is signed until 2026. But you think...www.fiveaa.com.au
He showed more than enough against Lions in QF. 4 goals with Payne/Andrews hanging off of him.Yeah I'm torn...
part of me think Lord is still a fringe player... played 15 games ( 13 home and away games, average of 1.2 goals a game ) but does have huge potential...
But than again he is contracted...
I'm not sure.. I keep swapping in thoughts
Good.According to the North board we asked about Thomas (as did other clubs) but he has no interest in Geelong at all
He looks flashy, but long term he is a bust imho. Can't mark overhead as a natural, and his speed and skills are not quite at that level to compensate for it. Overall a decent player, but won't be a superstar imho. Is he an upgrade on Sav as a Key Defender vs Lord as a Key Forward, and I'm going to say definitely no. If he is stake knives in a deal with a pick, sure why not, but in a straight swap it's a definite no. Sav statistically was pretty good as a Key Defender, not the best, but certainly up there. He showed more than enough against Lions in QF. 4 goals with Payne/Andrews hanging off of him.
Kid can play, he just needs a shot,
You have to remember it's a deal for Esava Ratugolea...we're not exactly talking peak Chris Judd here.Good.

I think the chat is a smokescreen. Set Port fans expectations at Ollie Wines and the actual trade will be easier to socialise with the fan base and less likely to get someone fired out of a cannon Ned Guy styleWines wont agree to go anywhere so its irrelevant and rowey knows it.
I think it's a slightly easier sell than for him to stay at Port. I don't see him pushing past Finlayson or Marshall when fit. They just locked in Georgiades for 4 years. Dixon could retire tomorrow and he'd be years away from first choice.Lord showed some glimpses of talent in the finals and I’d be keen to have him on our list. But he’s at a similar stage to Neale and plays the same role.
If Lord came in they’re both competing for the same spot next season. They’d both already struggle for games with a fully fit team. Hawkins, Cameron, Rohan and Henry will be ahead of them and they’ll need to find games amongst that group, plus some ruck etc.
I can’t see how they’re selling that role to Lord at the moment, except to say to him spots will an open up but they will at port as well.
Esava for Lord would be very risky from our perspective anyway I’d want something else added. Barring injury Esava will play every week for Port and play a good role. He’ll still make some mistakes as he’s learning that role but he’s a lot less of a risk than Lord.
Holmes going at all is unrealisticI'd trade holmes for two first rounders around the 7-10 mark. Use them and possibly another lesser pick to bring in a KPF like Oscar Allen.
Or maybe is this unrealistic ?
He went to Geelong Grammar.Does anybod know if Ollie Lord has ever lived in Geelong or is he born and bred in Melbourne
His grandfather is also a legend of the club and won a flag and a Brownlow in the hoops. Geelong royalty. He went to Geelong Grammar.
FFS the kid is 21yo and has played 13 games. If we wrote off every KPF who hadn't dominated by that stage of their careers, there might only be 3-4 KPFs left in the whole comp.Good.

Was very close to delisted last contract. He won't be any better than what is already on our list.FFS the kid is 21yo and has played 13 games. If we wrote off every KPF who hadn't dominated by that stage of their careers, there might only be 3-4 KPFs left in the whole comp.
He has size, he has athleticism, and his work against the Lions in the QF shows he can impact in big games. There's a hell of a lot to like.
His father was drafted to Geelong as a F/S in 91 too.His grandfather is also a legend of the club and won a flag and a Brownlow in the hoops. Geelong royalty.
Bevo strikes me as old-school, and wouldn't want a bar of any of that stuff. It's no surprise that they're not getting along as you say.
I think he’d be better off staying at Port for another season then looking around. Is he out of contract? For us Hawkins has one more year and he'd probably be close to level pegging with the competition for that spot
It's the downside of being a perennial loser football club.Bevo, to me, seems mentally unstable and not fit to be a senior coach.
The club being unable to manage personalities like Stringer and Hunter, and then Dunkley leaving for reasons that had nothing to with money or homesickness, are enormous red flags.
Plus the rumours about the enormous level of power Bevo has around assistants, staff etc.
If the Dogs board had any sense they’d get rid of him before the club fractures any further. If he hadn’t won a flag early in his time there he would have been lucky to last five years IMO.

Lord's a talented young player with some flaws in his game that can hopefully be ironed out over time.
That's about what you'd expect in a deal for a player of Esava's quality.
Many on here who have bagged Sav regularly now seem to be in fantasy land on what we can realistically get for him.
Let's not go down that path, it's the type of behaviour we love to bag opposition supporters for. We shouldn't stoop to their level.
