I went to all of Geelong's finals in 1989. Ablett Sr was incredible. Not just in the GF but the entire final series. Wasn't enough to get the win though, but there's not much else he could have done. A 10th goal to tie the scores would have been nice I guess.
My only issue so far was using my iPhone to cast directly to my Chromecast. For some reason watching live this way causes it to buffer every 20 seconds or so. It made the games unwatchable. In frustration I went back to my PC and ran it in Chrome and cast the tab from there to my Chromecast...
He actually took two contested one handed marks in the last quarter. One against Rance late in the quarter and an earlier one against another defender. I guess that's why there's some confusion in this thread.
Yeah. I just meant Big Footy mainly. I live in Canada now anyway so it's even easier to avoid. The only AFL fan I know here is a Demons supporter.
I've got a good mate back home who's a Crows fan so I'd be happy for him if they win it.
I think I became a bit numb to it all after they won their third. Four would be history and worth seeing if that's the way it plays out. If Geelong don't win it, I'd almost be happy for the Crows to get there. Losing their coach the way they did was incredibly tough and a credit to the club...
Was happy to see Barnsey get a medal in 2000 after years of good service at the Cats and back to back losses in 94/95.
Still enjoy watching him take that mark in the defensive goal square in the 94 prelim with the scores tied....and then immediately playing on under pressure. Still get...
In Canada it's now streaming live on TSN.ca and starts a few hours early with some lead up shows. Even better though, they'll now join the game live on TSN once the CFL finishes (around half time).

I remember the Essendon vs Collingwood match in 1990 being pretty big. Similar situation from memory (not undefeated of course) but the two teams looking most likely to play off in the GF, and of course they eventually did. Remember it was televised live too.
And who could forget Billy kicking the winning the goal against the doggies in the 94 qualifying final after Osbourne kicked a goal with 30 seconds left on the clock to seemingly win the game for the doggies.
It's not going to happen. And after last year, I'd be happy to finish on 17 wins and be in top form going into the finals.
On an interesting side note, a mate pointed out to me today, that after beating Hawthorn and Collingwood this year, Geelong have beaten every team in the competition in...
Shocking news. Remembered him a bit as a footballer, and watched him win Survivor by basically being a decent bloke. From memory, the main reason he went on Survivor was to get the money to reunite his wife with her mother. Even sadder to hear his son also died in the crash. RIP.
Loved the Coodabeens back in the day.
The Dipper song was one of my favourites...

You can also get it on Virgin instead of Sky, but yeah, you need to subscribe to pay tv. I never realised it was available on Freeview via Top Up TV (after using it for 18 months!!!) until after I'd signed up for Virgin TV. But if only Setanta 1 is available, it would be a waste of money.
Well, I'm not going to disagree with you in general. Bottomline is either service was/is average at best. And like most things ymmv in terms of which worked better.
But I was just commenting from personal experience that I found the current service a little bit better, mainly from the...
I'm pretty sure every finals game was live. At least all the Geelong ones I watched were. It's the regular season games that were a bit of a toss up as to whether they'd be covered or not. It didn't always appear to be the biggest games of the round covered, suggesting they were locked into...
The Aussie Sport TV service is a definite improvement on the old Bigpond Video service. The full game should be up 24 hours after the game finishes (but isn't always the case). The old Bigpond videos were constantly stopping and buffering making it practically unwatchable. This one is it a bit...
Was at that game, and despite the Cats losing, have to agree it was an amazing game. From memory, Ablett was on fire on the wing in the first half (faded after that, as did most of the Cats team), and Exell kicked 9 goals or something. Add to that the GF played that year and it was a couple of...
I just think it's too hard to tell at this stage. Two years ago it was all about the Swans and Eagles. The last two years it's been all about Geelong, with the Hawks rising quicker than expected.
From a Geelong perspective it would be nice to get Matty Egan back on the park and anywhere close...
Yep. Just hit me I've seen us in 6 Grand Finals in my lifetime...for only 1 win. Losing a prelim is more a feeling of what-if. Sad, but at least you can feel proud of the effort, and the focus is immediately on the winners about to play off. Losing a GF is just way too painful...you can feel...
It wasn't pretty, but it was fair enough. You take a risk doing it, especially when the game was tight and it could easily come back to haunt you. But if it saves you a goal and allows you to set up the play, then good luck to you. I'm more worried about us missing one easy shot after another...
Well done to the Hawks. Better team on the day won. Still shattered to be honest. In a regular game, bad kicking is bad football. In a Grand Final it's football suicide. We had our chances and blew it, and the Hawks took theirs and outplayed us to finish off the game and take the...
Setanta is pretty good in London. But a bit hit or miss in terms of showing the big games each week. For example, not showing the Hawks v Cats game live (or even a replay) was disappointing. So getting the torrents on fr333dom.com is useful.
I've lost count of the amount of 5am starts I've...
