Early in the 2nd Murphy got a free in a marking contest at half back. Mackay raced over and grabbed the footy, tried to take the free himself to double his numbers before the umpire could react. Unluckily the umpire told him Hang on, Murphy's free.

Foiled again.

Such a lightweight. Gets breathed off the football.

Just laughable that he keeps getting picked, particularly now with the guys doing well in the reserves.

A lock for all this season and next mind you. Probably the one after too. Then into an assistant coaching role with Radar.

Please, furq no, do not believe that the little spud will last further than the next 2 weeks. We have far too much talent to accept his sub par performances in the 1s. Must be gone.

Mackay is everything that is wrong with this team. He is not the only one by the way. Atkins takes it to a new level. Mackay's free pass must come to an end at some point. The fact it has gone on for 200 games is embarrassing.

Although I think Mackay has been better this year, in fact he has even touched "good" in a few games ... we all agree that his instant inclusion is a problem.

When we have talent in the 2's that will improve - it's bad selection policy to just stick Mackay into the 22 "because".

Just imagine the next final we play in, is Mackay going to make a difference to the result?

Yep - and if it’s a running player we need like/like. If it’s not then we have enough flexibility in the side to shuffle things around.

Murphy and Atkins were poor, but have been playing well in recent weeks.

Betts has also had two non-event games since his 300th.

Given the form of the SANFL side, there's no reason to continue to hand out gold passes.
