Kings VS Red Lions

Hornets VS Devils

Bombers VS Roos

Vikings VS Bears

What is everyone's tips this weekend?

Kings over the uni lads...to many bigger bodies..i think thats how yeronga must have got over them aswell.

hornets over devils.. no brainer

bombers in a close one over the roos...interesting to seem how robina go if murray doesnt kick a bag?

vikings and bears? maybe bears just! quick younger midfield might get them over the line.

Any truth to the rumour that the Bears are now only training once a week and are playing from a different field because of ground hardness concerns?

why dont they just play at Kenmore somewhere not chelmer......

i have always found it funny that they play at chelmer and not somewhere closer to kenmore?

as for training 1 night a week.. not a massive disadvantage i know for fact that alot of better players in this comp only train 1 night a week

Scariest match I ever had to escort umpires of the field yesterday at UQ Oval 7. While I was away from the ground getting supplies for the canteen, two red cards for Robina (Apparantly, scottsdale can you confirm?). Triggered some ugly scenes post game

Gee not surprising, trouble again at Uni

What happened during that match for this to happen? How come RUL needs to ask people on this forum when he was clearly at the match?

I wonder why it would be that Scary... just typical 2 cards for Robina and none for Uni??? how does that work.

RUL my observations from our day out at St Lucia.

* Zero bins located around the grounds for rubbish
* Is the uni ground the only club in ALFQ where there is no fence around the ground? having spectators sit so close to the boundary line is dangerous.
* Why were there no coaches box lines marked? both Uni coaches in the seniors and reserves coached standing on the boundary line between the interchange gates which is against AFLQ rules.
* If you want opposition clubs to support your bar and do the right thing you might need to offer more then raw sausages, 12 Jim Beam cans for the day and then only be able to offer XXXX gold, New and rum.
*Was interesting to see the uni goal umpire over ruled in the seniors game for cheating - a point called a goal was over ruled by the 2 AFLQ umpires.

As for both games thought they were played in good spirit. First red card was open to interpretation - players involved in a scuffle and only 1 player gets carded is wrong in my opinion. Second card was for a Robina player calling the umpire a cheat and the umpire carded him for that.

The above is not sour grapes - just posting my experience at the ground where last year Robina were reported to AFLQ for bringing our own alcohol, leaving rubbish everywhere and have widely been called cheats on this forum.

Have never really involved myself in forums but was looking into the results of the game and this forum popped up on google. Had a look and thought I should reply to this comment. While I currently don't belong to a club, I have previously played a few games for UQAFC many years ago and, when I'm in town, like to pop down to their home games since I live in St Lucia. I can't comment on the bar, canteen, facilities too much as I'm not involved too much but I generally don't have an issue with it.

I also can't comment too much on the goal kicking error since I was sitting on the hill near the Robina bench and didn't get a good view. It did appear to be a point however and, rightfully, the umpires stepped in. Although not a good look, at the least the right decision was made in the end, which isn't always the case. They have enough troubles getting goal kicking decisions 100% correct in the actual AFL and they have paid proffesionals and a video review process!

With regards to the cardings, it certainly appeared to me that UQ had one player yellow carded while Robina had 2 players yellow carded after the scuffle. I'm not sure what any of these were for but it appeared to be the whole 'third man in' that was, rightfully might I add, penalised. I'm not sure why there was two Robina and only 1 UQ player sent off however.

As the Robina players were walking off, one turned to the Umpire and launched a tirade of abuse at him and the umpire had no decision but to change it to a red. Some of his teammates on the bench had to pull him off the field. I'm not sure what happened with the second red card. The way in which the player, and what appeared to be a member of the coaching staff carried themselves was an embarrassment to their club, and frank-fully, to AFL in Queensland. Some of the things that were directed at the umpire were beyond belief and I would hope that the umpires report the full incident. Without going into full detail, the umpire was not only called a cheat, a scum and a c**t but verbally threatened as well. They also started acusing the Uni coaching staff of 'paying the Umps'. I would not be surprised if the club as whole was sanctioned.

As you mentioned, the game was played in great spirit until this incident. Even after the incident, the rest of the playing group did not reflect the behaviour of this one player and I would hope that his behaviour is in the minority at the club. I would also hope that this player felt remorse and apologised to the umps after the game.

Scottsdale,

Thanks for the feedback. All comments are appreciated and will past on to the committee, especially regarding the field markings.

And as I said to the coach after the game after the fire had stopped, Robina had every reason to hold their heads high. It was a very good game from what I saw before I ducked out for that 10 minutes of craziness.

Nah, no sour grapes, can't grow grapes under powerlines.

good to see this forum has come alive again.

just throwing it out there.

i would like a rough estimate on how many dodgy goal umpiring decsions each club has had this year ?
i would like replies from each club if yous can find the time.
i know for an alex point of view they have had 3-4 really bad decsions go against them.

As for 2 players being red carded and noone from the other team.
clearly a joke. takes 2 to tango!!!

would love to see some quality umpires in this comp.
i know for a facts teams have been robbed games from whistle blowers poor mistakes..

i am sure any hornets on here agree.

not sure how much life would come from a former tip site ei
