Ranieri was a dodgy appointment. The history with teams who come up and survive but then often struggle in the sophomore year. Average squad with no huge signings, Cambiasso left. The writing was on the wall.

Everyone was wrong.

It's crazy, but I love it.

If I recall correctly (and I'm sure SM can confirm), I was the only one that backed the belief that we'd finish top 10 (had them 9th) on the basis we'd see more good Leicester and the finer margins would go our way.

Now I'm going to be extremely disappointed if we finish 9th from here, lol. (I really should've backed a Leicester player for the top scorer, pity I got the wrong one).

I will admit that Watford prediction was more down to my annoyance with them and the hope that Deeney and Ighalo weren't all that in the PL, and wanted them to fail to reach the hype. Fair play to them, they're going about business how I hoped we would do ours in the first season.

Can we get an Xmas update please SM ?

Ranieri wasn't a dodgy appointment at all. Greece was a debacle but outside of that, he's got PL experience and experience at other major clubs.

The squad isn't 'average' per se. Average compared to Arsenal or City? Sure. I don't think we were ever relegation favs though. Don't forget the run we went on at the back end of last season. They've proven they can play very good football.

I'll easily concede no body thought we'd be where we currently are though.

So pretty good at Roma and average elsewhere? I know the Monaco win % looks good but a lot of that would have been in Ligue 2 when they first got bought out and spent big to go up. He like Vardy and Mahrez really have taken themselves to new heights

Juve was alright. That would have been around the time they were punished for match fixing right?

The other thing to notice, he wasn't at most of those clubs for very long. Roma and Juve were the longer term appointments.

I don't know if it's new heights for him. He did well at Chelsea as well.

By the looks of it he found himself in sackable situations a few times around February. This is a massive improvement on that!

I don't mind being wrong on Watford. I only ever catch the very end of the Championship and only put Bournemouth up the ladder because the fans were so up for it. Leicester I assumed would struggle because they changed manager. I still don't quite understand the reason for that after the way the Foxes finished last season. I thought it may be due to internal battles, which is never good (see NUFC, CFC and to a lesser extent LFC).

Anyway, the odd thing is how people still say they expect LCFC to drop off. Winning it is a way off, but top 4 is definitely on. The one thing to consider, however, is something I just posted about in the LFC thread (below). Out of last season's top 6, in 12 months LCFC have won only once - v Mourinho:
[Leicester's] record for last 12 months in EPL: Played 38 Won 20 Drew 9 Lost 9 (69pts, 1.82 avg). In that time they have only had one bad run during the FA Cup 3rd to 5th rounds (they won twice in that before losing to Villa). So you could argue it showed they didn't have great squad depth.

However...in that bad run they mostly played top teams: Stoke, Man U, Palace, Arsenal, Everton, City, (Hull) and Spurs...their record against the top 6 of last season is poor: Leicester v Man U, City, Arse, Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool in last 12 mths: Played 11 Won 1 Drew 3 Lost 7 (6pts, 0.55 avg).

Sorry if you've already explained this SM but how is the score calculated?
