VFL 2016 VFL Magpie Arrivals and Departures (VFL list finalised!)

Was confirmed by Inside Footy a while ago.

All VFL-listed players sign up to a suburban club, so that they have somewhere to play when not picked for the VFL.

I suppose Kelly's personal circumstances might have changed and forced him to re-consider the VFL or he might have got a higher offer from Templestowe and changed his mind of his own accord. Or that Inside Footy got it wrong...

In any event, if he doesn't eventuate, he's a type we can more than cover. With our half back flank depth, even Team of the Year HBFer Ryan Pendlebury is going to struggle for a game!

But that is Not Confirmed by the Club.

Also seems David Mennen is signed on for 2016 as well. Mennen played a couple of games for us late last year as a 23rd man from the Murray Bushrangers, in which he was decent enough (obviously the recruiting team thought so, hence the contract offer!).

I can sort of Understand Allan as we have Close and Still on the VFL List.

Greenhough was Highly Rated by the Coaches but I guess he thinks he won't get Further then VFL. So play with his Mates and I guess make good Money

Club confirm Kelly's signature, along with a few others and they casually slip another new signing in as well...

Bendigo Pioneers pair Lachlan Tardrew and Marty Hore will call the Holden Centre home after completing successful seasons in the TAC Cup, while Dale Hinkley and Matthew Smith have also been recruited via Birchep-Watchem and Strathfieldsaye respectively.

Seems like this guy Smith is a midfielder, which makes for a break from recruiting all these half back flankers for a change... although, he has been described as a "running back" in one piece that came up in my search, so I guess he ticks all the boxes then...

16 returnees doesn't seem many given we had 29 on the list last year, although going over the list it looks like we've managed to hold onto most regulars. The op has 11 names not including Jack Blair who played the intra club, so that leaves 4 returning from Collopy, Cody, Turner, Fennell, Fischer, Viola, Indovino, Knight, McKeown, J. Smith, Corr, Howe.


This all I can find on them, which doesn't confirm anything about our VFL side. At a guess I'd say a transfer to VFL & TAC Cup would likely mean a stand alone club, which would have Fischer leaving.

The actual lodgement/finalising will come in the next few weeks.

We ran with a VFL senior list of 25 in 2015, plus a few Development List kids (equivalent of rookies). So assuming a similar make-up this year we would still have some spots to fill, which is what the practice matches are for...
