Training 2022 pre-season

Bad news. It appears although Kayo will stream the various trial matches next week they are NOT on the freebies list.
If you don't have a subscription (which I don't) I guess the 14 day free trial would be one way around the restriction.

Other hope is that the club will have a replay or that Kayo will make it a freebie some time after the game.
Not holding out much hope on either.

Bugger.
I was looking forward to my first footy fix for the year.

Will they be broadcast on Fox Sports?

mind the intrusion. How is Ladhams tracking in pre-season? I couldnt find any internal trial write ups.

Yep, none of us have seen any of the intra-club games so we don't really know. All we know is that he is fit.
Hopefully he is fit and not “Port Adelaide fit”. he was known for being under done at Port.

Wasn’t happy that Port let him go, but after our trial, I’m think it might be a win for both clubs.

Is Sydney always so secretive in preseason?

Usually yes.

Hard to get too much info on internal matches without being there

Pretty much. We get articles and "get to know yous" on various players.
Occasional fitness reports on injured players. Occasionally specific players are mentioned but the best info we get is from the occasional Big Footy poster who gets along to training.
On the other hand we don't get fed a pile of old rubbish about how so and so is training the house down either.

Also in pics and bits of video he looks lean enough. He's got some great people to work on his skills with (Cox, Hickey in the ruck and Macca, Buddy and the like in the forwards) so if he's putting in the work he should be OK. If he isn't, he'll quickly be advised what's required, but I think he knew before he came. Sometimes it takes a while to grow up.

I think Port supporters would riot and burn down Alberton if there was no news.

Every Port supporter thinks they know football as they roll out for the local C-grade reserves whilst hungover...

Bleached his hair.

There's an interview with him in December(?) saying love Sydney, great club, great culture, looking forward to working with Dean Cox etc..

You never really get a sense of things before the trial games. I think most of us are wondering how he's going to get used. Probably we will go with him and Hickey with Ladhams also playing forward, but maybe they'll go with one specialist ruck plus McLean who's a forward who rucks a bit, or even Amartey, ditto. That's one thing to watch in the trial against North o March 6.
The attraction of Ladhams is he's a young player who potentially could be around for ten years to add depth to ruck and forward stocks. Buddy, Sinclair, Hickey are all over 30, and Naismith is in permanent battle with injury, so Ladhams looks like really good value.

I wouldn't go that far KC. I still haven't forgiven the club for the Nick Blakey hysteria last pre-season. His AMAZING pre-season form in the wing/midfield position amounted to six very average AFL games and then getting dropped.

It turned out to be the best thing for him as he went to the reserves and reinvented himself as a defender, but geez everything he supposedly showed in the pre-season amounted to diddly squat when the real stuff began.

Perhaps a smallish pile?
Worries me when they talk someone up.
Just hope they keep developing Blakey at HB - he could be something really special.
Mainly just hope the guys are healthy and working hard.

Agreed, and it's better to be optimistic than be a cynical bastard like myself.

We are very average with preseason match updates. Not sure what our membership numbers are but wouldnt be surprised if they are low, the is a real lack of info aside from puff pieces our club give us.
I saw a figure of 35722 membership on twitter but no source was listed by the poster, if they respond I'll let you know.

Edit: Herald Sun is the source

Could not disagree with campbell playing back pocket any more.

Rewatch the rd1 games against lions last year, I did today, this kid needs the ball in his hands as much as possible. Not only are we losing a lot of attacking skills with him down back, he is a liability down there as we seen last year, opposition will drag him to the square and isolate him there where he has no idea what he’s doing.

Having him play behind the ball is a huge advantage to the opposition

Campbell is a Ferrari, get him up the ground and let him play his natural game, all playing him in defence does is let the opposition off the hook and dent Campbells confidence

I think at least last year Campbell looked more confident as a half back than he did on the half forward line. Ultimately we want him in the midfield but for now I think half back is a better option for him than half forward.
