It's funny how much the perception of a single player changes when the team is not having much success.

EFC winning:

Ambrose
- Integral to our structures
- Tackling machine
- Pressure act specialist
- Physical presence, wrecking ball, harvester of souls, RIP Brad Hill

EFC losing:

Ambrose
- Doesn't kick enough goals
- Is too slow
- Just not an AFL player

I think he needs to be a defensive mid. He has as many tricks as Crowley! He is 193cm can go with anyone and will match them for strength.

He'll certainly be able to become a fantastic stopper. There is also a chance that after following Pendlebury, Pridis, Dangerfield, Cotchin, Beams, Kennedy and these types for a few seasons will see him learn the game very well and become a genuine ball winning beast in the future.

Right now we need him on the half forward line because all other forwards we have resemble statues. However, if we were to keep playing Laverde, Edwards and Langford up forward we can do without that. Especially if we play McKernan up forward with Daniher. I'd like McKenna or Fantasia in the last forward spot. Preferably McKenna as with Laverde they'll add a lot to our aerial fire power.

This would be a good time to play Ambrose in that role because Hocking is back. Play him as a ball winner and personal coach to Ambrose.

One of the bigger knocks on Ambrose is that he isn't that quick out the blocks, lacks that explosiveness. Wouldn't that make him a poor tagger? Most midfielders worth tagging would get separation on him easily.

He's not that slow and will go with them all day. That burst is as much about upper body strength to push off and go. He is the biggest bench press at the club also.

Not many of the good taggers in the AFL have been quick. Of the recent ones, Ling, Stenglein, Kirk, Crowley, Carrazzo, Cornes have all been on the slow side off the top of my head.

I'd prefer that too! Ofcoutse but seeing how Giles put a chokito in hirds bag or whatever.... Its made life hard for everyone. Sucks we have to just make do when we have a waiting option.

Cleary there is a huge Giles issue, enough to go in ruckless.

In an ideal world we have Hocking and Myers so that negates the need to play a bloke who is in the side for his physical attack.
Right now we are not in an ideal world so he gets a game.

Basically. He only averages 4.8 kicks per game out of his 12.8 possessions which is pretty indicative of the lack of space he has when he has the pill.

I've said it a few times and I reckon that's what he's told to do, seems to automatically look inside to handball to the overlap runner to get us moving.

Still reckon he needs a good 6 week block of VFL where he plays genuine full forward out of the square to improve on drawing the ball and actually kicking goals.

Ambrose is actually one of the quicker players at the club in testing. However he is poor at repeat sprints and blows up quickly hence outside of the first 5 minutes he appears slow. Perhaps he could be tried as an impact sub but I don't rate him and don't see him being suited to any afl role.
