Nope. According to the interwebs, ours was first in official terms (1901 v 1902) but the NZ version was in unofficial use for decades prior.

A couple more I've whipped up inspired by the Ausflag sports design. I like this colour scheme for our flag: wattle gold, 'eucalyptus' green, 'Aussie" blue and white for the stars.

With the second one, it wouldn't work because you can't have yellow meeting white on flags. They blend together from a distance. First one's nice though.

Love the design, but as I've said I'm not a fan of red and white. I'd recolour it like this

That right one is sort of the opposite to the one I made (posted back on page 6 for those who haven't seen it) but I think that works much better! I'd absolutely love to have that as our flag!

Seriously, wouldn't mind it at all.
Hmmm. Nah. Clever design but the wattle shape is a bit too 'generic flower'.
The badge is cool, but not really a fan of that.
On a lighter note, If we seriously want a flag that represents us, it needs to be footy shaped (explanation to northerners: it's the only major sport Australia has invented).
One a more serious note, there is no reason for red to be on the flag if we want to drop the Union Jack, if we are trying to separate from Britain, a red, white and blue flag doesn't separate us. I'm a fan of the designs using the green and gold bar with the southern cross or the plain southern cross designs.

Red for the indigenous representation of the land? Blue for the night sky (obsidian) or the water (royal)? White for "world peace" purity etc

I'm still trying to figure out how that badge would actually pin on as a whole.

Blue and white can stay, I just think if we want to get rid of the Union Jack, including red is a bit... contradictory.
It makes perfect sense in my head, but I'm having trouble explaining it.

Really good effort, but it just feels a bit too corporate. It kinda reminds me of this.
7 different pins that have to be placed in the correct place.
It'd be fiddly, but still look pretty cool.

Nah, they are all on a black base which joins them and it's one pin.

Except that the "black base" is the same material as the jacket around it.
I did think of that, but for corporate events they would want something quick and simple

Yeah, I though I'd seen one, but it would definitely need to be done that way, but also with the black base in the centre.

You wouldn't do a black base, you'd just to small black connecting bits between each piece with pins on 2 of them.
Cool bit of graphic design but I feel no connection to it at all. Looks more like a brand than a flag.
