Apparantly they are putting together another series for that Euro thingy coming up. In the Phoenix From the Flames section one of the goals they are re-creating is Matty LeTissier's corker against Newcastle where he lobs it up and volleys it.

So fingers crossed SBS picks it up and we get to see it.

He scored another one in that game that was a beauty as well.

He was on fire around that time but Venables didn't fancy him, shame really, might have just tipped the balance in Euro 96.

A Southampton board, basically because of that Matt LeTiss thing. They are trying to find an old Dimplex-sponsored kit, as the joke goes they are after any size, S, M, L, XL, XXL, MLT :)

LeTiss, LeTiss,
Matty Matty LeTiss,
Scores the goal takes the p1ss,
Matty Matty LeTiss

Well I emailed SBS and this is the response I got:

"there are no plans to get their show at present (Euro 2004 will be screened by Foxtel, not SBS), regards"

Can't see foxtel trying to get it either.....:(

:( I want to see the ball hit Klinsmann's head again.

I remember that episode when Brigitte nielsen was one of the guests and she tried to smother david baddiel with her breasts..

Jeff astle used to sing songs at the end of each episode..
on time he sung firestarter by the prodigy...

It's a shame that SBS won't be picking it up, and like Sporny said, there is f*ck all chance of Foxtel picking it up.

Great show, that.

Yep, an absolute ripper of a show.

Did they used to get someone from the crowd to take notes on a whiteboard? And did they show a photo of Maradona in the shower with the smallest pecker going around?

Other than that, I'm struggling. Any more memories anyone?

I know they did the exact same style show that Merrick and Rosso do now later down the track. Merrick and Rosso even credit them with the idea in the final credits of each show.

I remember when johny rotten and that actress called sylvia kristel who appeared in the porno film emanuelle appeared..
Johny rotten got kicked off the set half way through and sylvia kristel looked shell shocked...

I remember them taking the mickey out of the England players with blokes who had similar but different names.

"Hi, I'm Michael Bowen, and you are watching ....."

Me and a couple of mates still call Michael Owen, Michael Bowen.

Loved that show. I still have that Bridgette Neilsen episode on tape. She was BLLIIIIIIIIIND!!! Hilarious.

I think I've still got almost all of them on tape, except that one. Though I do remember watching that one at the time - can you tell me what was the Phoenix from the flames episode that show? (Phoenix from the flames was when they recreated famous soccer moments, absolutely hilarious).

I emailed foxtel about it today but I don't like our chances, unless it pops up on the comedy channel.

My favourite episode was when they recreated the moment when an Argentine player became the first man to be sent off in a WC final for a foul on......Jurgen Klinsmann.

It's been ages since I watched it but I think they recreated the winning spot kick in a Hungary vs Germany match.
Basically the Hungarian bloke ran in full pelt and then at the last moment softly chipped the ball into the back of the net whilst the goalie went scrambling to his right. It was the first time Germany had been beaten in a long time or something. Not sure, like I said I haven't seen it in a while.

They got the Hungarian scorer and German goalkeeper to come along, both now in their fifties. Top effort all in all.

I could be wrong though.

No I have that one on tape – it’s a good one (though the match actually involved Czechoslovakia v Germany). My memory of the Nielsen episode was that the Phoenix had something to do with Sweden and pr0n :p – and that’s all I remember (it’s going back 6 years so my memory is a bit hazy….)

Then I've got no idea.

My fave Phoenix ep was the one where that Cameroon bloke just sprinted at a free kick from the wall before anyone had taken it.
They called it the Ilunga Mwepu manouveur or something??

That and the goal against Neil Sullivan.:D.

STATTO! STATTO! STATTO!!!

Ah yes, that was a ripper.

I liked the Phoenix ep which looked at the last time the Germans lost after a penalty shootout - to the Czechs (I think?) in 1976. Very funny.

Not good news in that it's not being shown in Australia, but good news (well, for me personally;) ) as my sister lives in Dublin and she gets ITV there and will be taping all the episodes for me!
