2nds Crows in SANFL season 2018

New rules required for next year. All players who want to be apart of crows or power academy nominate for a mini draft. Start from scratch so both teams have 0. Team who finishes lowest has first pick. The first picks for both clubs are the captain/leadership player. We each get a squad of 40 so we can fill teams in both Sanfl and Sanfl reserves. So if Summerton wants to nominate and we have first pick he could captain crows. Lol. Won’t happen but can only dream

Where did we finish last season? 3rd or 4th?
Seem to remember we had injuries early last year and struggled. Not quite as bad as this year. Then as we had players returning we came home with a wet sail. But too little too late though to make finals. Which doesn’t really matter other than getting more games in. None of the backup players were getting a game while the A’s were still playing finals.

This is the disadvantage to the system we have now. Surely the players don’t learn a lot getting smashed week in week out?

They do learn, but it becomes very individual in terms of improvement.

That said, seeing how we are able to retain a lot of our system despite losing a quarter of our list shows that the SANFL reserves have been absolutely worth it.

gee whiz another flogging, getting thumped in the B grade every week is no good for development, somethings gotta change

There is nothing that can be done until our injury list clears up. That relegates a lot of the depth players currently in our best 22 to the SANFL and ergo results will improve (especially once CEY gets relegated back).

I disagree though, they're still practicing the structure and working on whatever they were instructed to do. Winning/losing gives has no real meaning for a reserves side outside of confidence, but then again, if you can't mentally handle a few thumpings, then you have no future regardless.

Its not the end of the world. Situations like this mean players are put in roles ahead of time. Initially it means they get flogged but the positive is that they learn quicker, something that's not been available to us a lot over the last couple of years. Its happening in the ones as well Gooch and Poholke last night, Fog and Murphy earlier. Later in the year and in the next few years this could be a blessing in disguise. If we have a whole season of it, then yes its a prob, and we can't rule that out at this stage, but I'm hoping we should start to get players coming back consistently over several weeks and in the last half of the year we should be up and going. We don't care about W/L in SANFL and the ones are going ok.

The one thing that's come out of this game is we should be looking at drafting Jackson Hately, very impressive youngster.

Great, another of OUR players to play against us. Hope he doesn't get drafted or is drafted interstate.

NO! Here's an idea for you. Why don't you P155 off to the VFL or an AFL Reserves competition and take the evil empire with you.

No AFL in the S.A.N.F.L.
Won't make any difference at all, Hately would still be playing AFL whether it's for Port, Crows or an interstate club, the reality is all state leagues top end talent will always find their way to the AFL.

Yes that would be ideal but would still need a decent crop of top ups that should be able to play together every week
