Probably it's still an interesting exercise to look at. We're not alone in picking up players who played together - the interesting part of ours is the size of the towns they're from (Naracoorte, Burnie). The Blakely + Hughes connection is amusing more than anything

There's a feelgood factor surrounding it, but statistically speaking, what are the odds of selecting purely on 'need' and picking two guys with a history.

One way of dealing with the "go-home factor". Bring along a familiar face to ease the transition.

It most likely is. Look at West Coast, bar Judd most of their young players have stayed, all citing the family culture as a reason. A lot of the staff their have been their for 10+ years.

I think it's very smart of the dockers recruiting Tazzie boys. Surely not much go home factor.
