A couple of days old now, and has nothing to do with Richmond. I just thought the Tigers fans out there would like to read an expert's masterpiece:

Thanks to Mike for that!
LET'S revisit events of August 26, 2006 - Geelong versus Melbourne at Skilled Stadium in Round 21.
Melbourne, third on the ladder, played the Cats, ninth, in a thriller in which the Cats came from 33 points down at halftime to pinch a draw.
It was the afternoon a brave Tom Lonergan was pole-axed in a marking contest, losing a kidney.
It was the afternoon Geelong chief executive Brian Cook looked like he was carrying Brad Ottens on his back as he continued the review into Mark Thompson's role as coach.
How things have changed.
Melbourne has finished 14th, 16th and 16th in the past three seasons; Geelong has finished first, second and either first or second.
Melbourne decided during the 2007 season to dispense with Neale Daniher, Geelong reappointed Thompson after 2006 and happily would reappoint him again today.
Geelong has won 64 of 75 games since the watershed draw; Melbourne has won 13 of 68.
That, in percentage terms, is 85-19.
What a staggering turn of events in a short period.
The additions of note at Geelong have been Joel Selwood, Tom Hawkins and Harry Taylor.
Yet Melbourne's additions include James Frawley, Colin Garland, Ricky Petterd, Matthew Warnock, Jack Grimes, Stefan Martin, Cale Morton and Liam Jurrah.
Therein lies the tale.
Geelong lost its way in 2006, having finished fifth in 2005, an unlucky loser to Sydney in the second semi-final.
It had a strong, developing list. Things just went awry in 2006.
Melbourne was headed in the opposite direction with an ageing list that ran out of gas.
