That's what I'm leaning.
It'll give you so many great excuses for deployment... "LOOK AT MY GUMBIE INK! LOOK AT IT!... nah I'm not flipping you off, really."

Good evening you great and glorious Gumbies, welcome to our Catman Medal presentation. Tonight, let's have some fun and award the following awards:

krisholio Rising Star (best rookie)

Ninty2Winty (best forward)
peterss Trophy (best defender)
StFly Medal (best clubman)
Catman Medal (best and fairest)

The voting system for the Catman is the same as last season. Each round, there are five votes up for grabs on SIM/playing performance (5-4-3-2-1) with the three highest dreamteam performers guaranteed a vote and two 'captain's choice' picks. In addition there are votes for match thread participation- one vote for 1-4 posts, two votes for 5-14 posts and three votes for 15+ posts. Both the sim and posting votes are tallied with the player with the highest total of votes the winner.

So, can beez go back to back?

Who will win the Ninty2Winty in a competitive field?
Which of our talented rookies win the krisholio?
Do Barrybran or GWS Goose win another individual award?

Could nobbyiscool or cats_09 win the Catman in their debut season?

I've got the entire ceremony drafted in my PM's, so this should be an efficient evening. At some point, our friend GWS Goose will come on stage to award the StFly Medal.

Round one was not a pleasant match with our mob suffering an almighty crunching by the Bears. Despite that, most players recorded some solid stats led by GWS Goose. Each of our rookies made a fabulous debut with HotPiesWithSauce getting their first goal in qooty.

Round two was much better with us finally prevailing over the Roys. GWS Goose again led the way on field with the sim being unnecessarily cruel to Tigerlaird and HotPiesWithSauce. Shout out to rye who has kicked 6.2 from two matches in the forward pocket in a dazzling display.

Any win is good but a win overcoming a deficit has an extra level of fabulousness. Aucklander was tremendous in the full back position while nobbyiscool, Dory_77 and Chat Pile played tremendous games. Chat Pile even got a hit out to put their hand up for the ruck position while nobbyiscool scored their first goal.

Well that was shizen. In muddy conditions, we barely fired a shot. I don't recall ever seeing a game where not one Gumbies player reached 50 DT. cats_09 scoring their first goal and HotPiesWithSauce playing well off half back the highlights.

Another muddy match, another yucky result. Stats were slightly better this week with GWS Goose, bone2468 and BlueE all doing quite well in the tough conditions.

GWS Goose off to a flier. Last season yours truly did the same but was mowed down in our last match. Can Goose keep the form going or do others have a successful surge in them?

BlueE and bone2468 have made a strong start on-field, each with the equal second most votes which is great to see. Meanwhile, nobbyiscool and Chat Pile are well placed with a solid combination of both sim and posting votes.

Podium after round 5!

I think it's all downhill from there however

Are finals counted in the BnF or is it just home and away games?

Good weather, good stats and a great win to celebrate Jeremias' 150th match. It was also the club's 300th win making us the fifthclub to the mark (Demons, Wonders, Furies and Bombers the others).

Almost everyone racked up the stats like Wayne Carey consumes his (crushed up) anti-inflammatories. GWS Goose returned to form with 34 touches, equalled by cats_09 in the best ruck performance by a Gumbies player in many seasons. Up forward, Chat Pile kicked eight and Mop three as they continue their battle for the full-forward spot.

Behind at half time in round nine, we needed a good second half to prevail over the improving Demons... and boy did we deliver. It was a very even performance with 17 players treated nicely by the sim. GWS Goose probably bagged some Mobbs Medal votes, nobbyiscool made a great debut in the midfield and the 1-2-3 forward punch of rye Mop and Chat Pile continues to befuddle opposition defenders.

Once again (in round ten), we went into half time down on the scoreboard and this time it felt like the momentum was moving against us. rye was huge kicking eight from the forward pocket as we mounted a splendid second half performance. In a close last quarter, the Phoenix asked some good questions but we had the necessary answers to win and jump to top spot.

In round twelve, we had the bye. In Latin bi means two, so in that vain, let's announce two awards (one of which has been very hotly contested). #badsegue #longbow

s36 peterss medal banner.png
PREVIOUS WINNERS INCLUDE: beez, CatToTheFuture and ossie_21.
SHORT LIST: Aucklander, bone2468, BlueE and ossie_21

Firstly to the best defender of season 36, the peterss trophy, named after our longest serving captain and games record holder. This season we were a very good team defensively, with the third-lowest point against in the competition and the lowest amongst the top-eight teams. Aucklander is the only player in the team who started all 17 matches in defence and was very good, especially in their 11 matches at full back. There was though, one person who played 13 matches at the half back flank and had a fabulous season there. It is with great pride that we recognise BlueE for their defensive efforts this season and their contributions with the Gumbies over their eight seasons thus far.

Congratulations BlueE, peterss Trophy winner.

s36 ninty2winty award banner.png
PREVIOUS WINNERS INCLUDE: Barrybran, Dory_77 and Rodney Dangerfield.
SHORT LIST: Chat Pile, Mop, rye and StFly

Now, hasn't this been hotly contested!?!
Chat Pile has kept a regular eye on the exploits of the forward line hoping to end as the club's golden boot. Mop has been keen to take home the award too, if for nothing more than to cheekily aggravate Chat Pile. Then there is rye, who has simply let their qooty do the talking. The golden boot ended as follows:

rye 36.17 (17 matches at FP)
Chat Pile 35.16 (6 matches at FF, 11 at CHF)
Mop 31.24 (11 matches at FF, 6 at CHF)

After much thought, I cannot in good faith deny rye after such an outstanding season (and they've already been 'robbed' of the SFACA MVP this season). Congratulations rye on besting out Chat Pile and Mop in the most magnificent 1-2-3 punch in qootball.

rye you are the Ninty2Winty winner as season 36's best Gumbies forward.
