Absolutely.
If you get a medical certificate your employer should alter your leave from annual to sick.
I manage the payroll at my workplace and we have done this a couple of times for employees.

Yep, at my workplace if you are sick on annual leave you just need to provide a certificate and you take the day(s) as sick leave instead. Your employer should then let you take AL later on you. Though usually when it suits them.

pretty sure its the law that you're allowed to transfer if you have a medicial clearance
