The thing with the brownlow is not only the prestige of winning it, but the actual walking through the crowd on the night, getting the medal placed around your neck by the previous year's winner and the interview up on stage and in the coming days.

If I won it I would be pi55ed that I didn't get the chance to experience that feeling. It would be like bangers without the mash, strawberries without the cream, a massage without the happy ending.:drunk:

Probably true, but I still hope Sammy (& Cotchin) get it. Nice bit of metalware to add to the collection.

I am happy to give sammy his moment. An old fashion big footy gathering would beat any televised crown casino, want-to-be-academy-awards-fashion-show shindig.

Or just award them retrospectively at the 2015 Award Night along with the 2015 Winner (which will be Sammy again).

What happened with Lance Armstrong? I know he lost all of his Tours but did second place get the accolades?
Good question. I don't think so...

2012 Brownlow Medalist will forever be recorded as

Bit embarrassing for the sport the award it to the bloke who finished 3rd last due to the amount of dirty athletes completing...

Eldo, I think you need to photoshop a red sash on your friend.
My PS skills are non existent, but I'm sure a a talented soul here could do the job...

While they're at it, I think "Jobelix" needs the red and black treatment as well...

Hmmm, I'm on a roll...can we shop Hird's head on Getafix?

And this is very worrying. I have not followed this intensely, but I believe the rest of the sporting world would be thinking just how weak we are as a sporting nation when we can't deal with something that is so black and white. Please put Essendon out of their misery, penalize them, and move on.
....but I like seeing them in misery. ;)

This. I think they have to go a fair way down the list, and certainly off the podium for most years to find a "clean" winner.
19 of the 21 place getters during the Armstrong years of the tour (of which Lance has 7 of them) were directly implicated in doping. The other 2 weren't conclusive. They were all on it.

I think they should award Mitch and Cotchin if Jobe gets suspended. The comparison with the tour de France only works if the runners up were players from the essendope as well.

There is no reason to ever suspect anyone in cycling is clean. It is the culture of it and has been for the best part of 35 years! Even going back to the 30s, 40s whenever it was that people were dying from heat because of the use of speed. No point stripping Armstrong and leaving all the other years there. Armstrong was the best of the cheaters and deserves his 7 titles. Does anyone seriously think Wiggans and Froome are clean? Its hilarious, and thats why i love watching it. They push themselves to the limit of near death, or in some instances death, for the pursuit of glory.

Was Cadel Evans clean, or should we be embarrassed ?

I really doubt that Cadel would be the only rider not taking stuff.

he's a Aussie hero, but nobody's perfect!
He ain't no hero if he was juiced to the eyeballs mate, but as nothing has been mentioned regarding him and drugs, I'm happy to back him as clean!
Don't let me down Cadel!

Unlike other Tour winners Cadel looked tired a lot. I think there is something in that. He never was never able to just blitz the field like an Armstong or a Contador. He had to ride a very disciplined race in which he tracked the movements of his main rivals in order to not lose time in the hope he could out do them on the time trial which he was very good at. I would be completely shocked if he was on the juice.

I think you can make a pretty strong argument he is clean. I am no cyclist and follow it loosely, but my understanding is that Cadel Evans tests of the charts in a lot of areas, absolute freak of an athlete. Yet he can not get anywhere near the times juiced up riders have produced going up hills or in time trials.

So he is either clean or not very good

I like your optimism, but these cyclists "train" as a team, a bit like the Essendon players were training in 2011/2012.

Lance Armstrong never tested positive but was charged on the basis of evidence from his teammates, etc. I love what Cadel has done, but it would be incredible if he was clean.

Cycling is not near as bad as it was when Armstrong was riding. Even look at a bloke like contador . . . he was a world beater on the climbs and now has come back to the pack since been busted for drugs. Sure there are still cheats but you can see in results and the way races go now that there are a lot of clean riders in the paleton. I watched all of Armstrong's 7 tours and it is now a very different race.
