Re: Just read some of Junior_Hawker's posts

Noone is asking for a Judd or Kerr for Tarrant but a couple of first round picks is not unreasonable even in this "super" draft. You offloaded much worse players in Hay and Thompson (much worse at the time) for close to that. Junior you are the stupid one if you think you can get Tarrant for a 2nd rounder and Ben Kane (who?).

Thompson, while he couldn't ruck against a lamp post, had hes most consistent year in front of goals when we traded him, and North Melb did well picking him in his career best form (a lot better than geelong with ottens), Hay was funny, I was hoping for just a 1st rounder...I think Tarrant could get 2 first round picks (not in the top 10), for a club desperate enough for him...It is all the other trades that were mentioned that are ludirous....Lonie is worthless, unless he is thrown in as an extra player....

Tarrant will never bring the value Collingwood supporters see in him. His inaccuracy makes him only a moderate goal-kicking threat. You cannot trade a player based on perceived value from 2 or 3 years ago. Trading is a what-have-you-done-lately proposition. That will hurt Magpies return in a year when the draft is considered supurb. The best case scenario may be a player and a draft pick - neither top-notched. Collingwood may have to keep Taz and hope he has a stellar season in 2007, but that might make it hard to deal him due to other considerations.

What about Hay...or do we just put that down to stupity...

Tarrent only gets talked up coz he plays for teh woods. Hes okay but hes not in the class of gun fowards like Hall Brown Fev even guys like Lucas and Bradshaw are much better coz they kick goals more constintly than taz does. And for the crap about him wroking up the ground thats coz he cant get a kick in a crowed forward line. We dont need him when willo can do the same sort of quik leads and kicks straihgter than taz does to.

and yes your right Kolchak about thommo and stacks that was stupidty or as I like to call him Dean Laidly. :D

Lonie has improved a lot this year and Kelly has declined big time, he was shambolic this year. The gap isn't as big as you are making out.

Every year there are a few clubs desperate for (semi) proven key position players like Tarrant, Hay, Thompson and Ottens. Watts, Brooks are other examples of the inflated value of key talls. This year Polak will command a reasonably high draft pick, despite apparently belonging to a special off-field "tri-force", because he is a key tall with potential, despite not grabbing a spot in a Freo line up that could use another key defender even as a 3rd tall.

Every team has a lonie type player on their list, so he doesn't command much, Kelly's best year was better than Lonie could ever dream of playing...you are dreaming if you think you can get kelly for lonie...Bomber Thompson would definately get sacked if he made that deal...
