Referring to McCarthy? Apparently going to Mooroopna to play reserves šŸ˜‚ I donā€™t think Tonny will be upset to free up the šŸ’° he was on
Heā€™s not a player Tonny would want to lose. Heā€™s been a key player for a number of years now, is always fit and highly competitive. Points would be low also. recruiting players is great, but recruiting to replace what youā€™ve lost wonā€™t get you to where you want to go.

Also, Another signing coming for Tongala this week.

Yes he is obviously one that is departing, along with Ryan, McLean and Jack Sinclair is what Iā€™ve heard

McLean obviously retiring. Sinclair just had an operation on his knee and will miss majority if not all of next season.

McCarthy has had some offers from a few clubs but I still favour him staying at Tonny more so then leaving.

Yeah I heard Sinclair done his knee but heard he still wants out

Dunno about GVL but it would be suicide to join Bendigo unless Echuca and Rochester join them as a trio.
You would hope that any club thinking of changing any league at the moment would be having a long hard look at how the destination league is being run.
And neither the GVL or BFL cater for the lower age juniors, sooo....?????

I heard the HDFNL recently announced that AFL CV have denied their application to expand to include a U15 grade of football for next season with no explanation as to why! They already have U13 netball but aren't allowed to cater for the younger kids wanting to play footy with the rest of the club - in what by name is a district league??
From what the league chairman said the aim was to get all club players together on the same day, which anyone involved with clubs or leagues who do this know it boosts volunteer numbers and the sense of club belonging, as well as being a mechanism to better address the points allocations of juniors playing senior football.

IMO any club looking to leave a league that is self-administrating such as the MFNL or PDFNL to go into one run out of a hub is mad - just look at the article circulating and reasoning behind Kyneton opting out of BFL to Riddell district for next season.

Curious - Is an ability to have more say or control in how their league is run also a factor being considered by the clubs that have declared they are looking at exiting the KDFNL to move to the potential new Murray District league, or is it more to do with frustration with the lack of care factor from other member clubs into junior development?

The MFL board is very impressive with many former club presidents running the league. The GM has been consistent for a long period of time and due to this has been able to maintain a strategic direction.

Ops Managers in the hub have had very short tenures and once they get a grasp on the league move on to other things.

So are you saying that is a factor your club has considered and discussed and a possible motivation for a move?

It was asked previously whether you were also interested in moving to PDFNL if the Murray district league, maybe if they didn't get the required minimum number of clubs and your mentioned not as it currently operates due to travel distances compared to your current situation - if no clubs left the PDFNL would you re-visit that notion if there was the possibility the league would again split into the north/south or east/west type divide if it gained a couple or more clubs?

I would view a stable administration (board, executive, managers, etc.) as a significant selling point in combination with the football and netball structures (senior and junior) on offer and also the geography of the league and travel.

Other factors may come into consideration as well, but the admin, structures and geography/travel boxes would need to be ticked when considering staying or moving.

How good was MFL gf at moama. Very well organised at a great venue. Canā€™t see it being anywhere else for a while
After attending a couple of 2023 Grand Final in the area, the MFL did have a very well organized and run day. The standard of football and netball was impressive.
Mulwala stronger bodies held up over again to go back to back in conditions that probably didn't favour them IMO

Thereā€™s no denying that it is a great venue as far as spectators go and the organisation of the day was great, the ground is too small to represent what Murray League Footy is all about, big grounds with plenty of space, shouldnā€™t that be a requirement for the grand final venue?
The sooner it returns to Tocumwal the better.
