Nat Fyfe has been thrown 2 weeks from the MRP.

Fyfe was cited for a third-quarter clash with Michael Rischitelli that drew a total of 225 points, but due to an existing bad record an early guilty plea will not reduce the penalty.

Given that it is virtually a free hit at the tribunal, it wouldn't surprise to see Fremantle challenge the ruling.

It will be interesting with a lot of punters backing Fyfe early for Brownlow Betting.

I literally don't know what the point of that rule is.

a) both players ended up injured.

b) a tackle would not have affected the kick

So are you supposed to just stand back and watch as your opponent kicks it? Tip your hat to him and say good day sir?

Fyfe didn't leave the ground... it is of a completely different character to the ones last year. Joke.

Yeah the Thomas one was different:

Was front on and he left the ground

Fyfe was just shoulder to shoulder impact causing their heads to collide

The AFL has also announced that a player who initiates a bump will be cited for rough conduct if he clashes heads with his opponent as it places further emphasis on protecting players from head and lower leg injuries.
I don't like the rule either but it can't be clearer that Fyfe initiated a bump and clashed heads. If that's the rule, then he had to go.

Anti-Freo bias. Please.

What is a joke is all the hysteria over something in the rules. If you initiate a contact that clashes heads, you're gone. Don't blame the MRP for upholding what's in the rulebook.

Guaranteed that this rule will disappear this year if not next. A ridiculous rule which they have tried to bring in before but everyone thought it was stupid…..

The only option was too stand back and do nothing…..what a great way to play afl

The rules were changed as a result of this clash:

And now a far more innocuous incident receives two weeks. It would seem highly disproportionate, and not really within the spirit of why the rule was changed.
