Squads have been released for the National Champs and I thought I might outline a few players to keep an eye out for. I will do them state by state as I get a chance to provide some comments.

By no means am an expert so dont take as gospel and pls add / disagree where relevant. Also if someone else wants to do one of the other states - go for it. I wont do VC and VM as there are plenty of threads on those kids and 'Humble Minion' is your man for them. Anyway here is SA;

SA

I mentioned before I didnt think their squad was that good but having had another look there is a lot of talent there but I dont think they have the KP strength of the VIC teams.

Chad Wingard - Really impressive last year and has been v good this year. Can play all over the joint but most importantly can kick goals from anywhere. First rounder I would think.

Lewis Hender - Another from last year who has played senior footy with Sturt this year (and last I think?) and been really impressive. Another who hurts offensively. Would think he is a first rounder for sure.

Emmanuel Irra - One word - "Athlete". Been playing seniors with the Panthers. Underager who will probably play wing HF. Electric and will be a favourite come end of champs if he turns it on. Seen him a few times and really excited to see what he tosses up.

Ben Kennedy - Another underager who has been awesome for Glenelg and BOG last weekend for them kicking 4. Have only seen him a couple of times so one am really looking fwd to seeing. Will have clubs salivating.

Brody Grundy - Underager but looms as one of the better ruck prospects for next year. Really good size and moves well for a young kid his size.

Luke Brown - Already seen senior action with Norwood and really impressed. I think could be a really high choice as he ticks a lot of boxes. Good size, quick and beaut kick. Adaptable to.

Josh Waldhunter - Few of you would remember from last year. Was impressive in how he reads the game and played through the middle with good impact for an underager. Good size and penetrating kick. I like him but unsure how high he will go.

Brad McKenzie - Fwd from Sturt who went around last year and has had some good results so worth keeping an eye out for. he is a really good size and has some very draftable attributes.

matthew Jacquier - Another medium sized fwd who shows really good game sense and has talent to burn. Very smooth and doesnt need many touches to impress.

Luke Wilson - livewire small from Magpies. Had some good games in the U18's and worth watching. Fair bit of development left in him and he has great sense of where the sticks are so interested how he goes on big stage.

Steve Rusca - from all conquering Centrals and not 100% sure if he has played seniors yet but has definately been firing for the u18's from all reports. Another who I am unsure of where he would fit into the draft order but he has performed well and comes into champs in good nick.

Sam Tonkes - Another Port magpie underager who has been amongst it for SA and am looking fwd to seeing.

Mitch Grigg - Another Norwood kid and have seen a bit of him. I really like him but will be interesting to see how he goes at Champs. Lot of good mids this year and will be interested to see if he stands out.

Also watch out for Mayes, Amoato, Luccon are some other under agers that have good wraps.

Re: National Champs - Payers to Watch

WA

Shane Nelson - Absolute ball magnet. has racked up some enormous touches in the Colts and is probably one of the guys I am most looking fwd to see as I havent seen much of him at all. Those I know who have say he is a player. Would think he is right up there.

Myles Bolger - Very impressive ruck who will be a first rounder for sure.

Cam Eardley - Another midfielder who has been solid at Colts level. ticks a lot of boxes insomuch as he gets the footy and can play defensively as well. was in the squad last year as an underager and will be keen to see how he goes as a good champs gets him drafted for sure I would think.

Shane Kersten - I love watching this bloke but he is a really difficult size and clubs are renowned for steering clear of them. Would love to see him played somewhere other than FF so we can see how adaptable he is. Even if he plays FF and kicks a heap still unsure where he woudl be selected. Been playing Reserves i think.

Stephen Coniglio - GUN!

Dayle Gartlett - Smooth moving wing / HF type who will be a very high selection in 2012.

Jeager O'Meara - probably the most sought after 17yo in the country. Suspect GWS fielding many offers.

Chris Yarran - competing wtih O'Meara as the best 17yo in the country. May be GWS bound. Cant see GWS giving them both up.

Shannon Taylor - another one for 2o12 who will be pretty prominent I would think.

Jordan Lockyer - Defensive player who will be more a HB type. been very good at Colts level and averaging over 20 touches a game. Good mark and can kick a goal so will be interesting if he gets pushed fwd.

Elliott Yeo - HF / mid type who has been goign very well at Colts level. really good defensive element to his game and one I will be watching as can do some pretty special things from what I have been told.

haidan schloithe - Have seen little but am told he is worth keeping an eye on.

Fraser McInnes - probably their best KP player from what I can ascertain. Was in the squad last year am told he is well worth keeping an eye on bc he could be pretty highly sought after at years end with good performance at Champs.

tom Mitchell - F/S selection so you wouldnt be to focussed on him as a result but you will notice him. Gets a heap of it.

Disappointed Duffy didnt get in:mad: and would have loved to see Morabito make it but results havent been there.

Re: National Champs - Payers to Watch

NSW

Jarrod Witts - Big lad who is tied to Collingwood and has improved out of site. Pies need some big kids to come through so will be watching closely.

Michael Hartley - Another Collingwood kid and is developing well as a key back. Terrific size kid and could end up hurting someone at this Champs if they aint careful.

Harry Cunningham - One of my fav's in their side. He is excellent to watch. Ticks a lot of boxes. Good mover and he has super pace. Kicking skills are good and he takes the game on which is going to be something in demand I would think.

Sam Milne - Probably their best player.

Oliver Tweedale - Probably one of the most draftable kids in their squad but hasnt backed up with results just yet. Keep an eye for though as very athletic and lots of draftable attributes.

Cam Moller - Big ruck tied to Freo i think it is.

Adam Flagg - I know a bit about this kid and am keen to see how he goes. Comes with good raps and has the potential to do some really neat things.

Aaron Duncan - been around NSW junior scene for a while and is worth keeping an eye on.

Re: National Champs - Payers to Watch

NT

Liam Corrie - Outstanding junior at the Panthers and invited down to the Tigers last year for a rookie spot but didnt eventuate unfortunately. May have impacted his draft chances (not sure) but has talent to burn. Can do it all when on.

Jack McEwin - Dont know much about him but reliably told to watch out for.

Louis Eggar - Only seen limited visition but very big wraps on him. Played for Thunder already.

Anthony Tipungwuti - seen a bit of him and a real livewire. Been going well some comes in with form.

Jed Anderson - Been belting it for Thunder so watch out for him. Probably the best kid they have but not available til next year.

Breadon Palmer - One of their over age kids who has seen senior action for Thunder and really impressed. Goal kicking fwd / mid type. Be interested to see how he goes as there are some wraps on him.

Hoping some NT boys might be around to give us some more insight.

Re: National Champs - Payers to Watch

QLD

Tom Fields - Kid from labrador who is a taller HB type. Lot of his type going around this year so keen to see where he fits in.

Peter Yagmoor - member of last year squad and has a real weapon with his boot. Loads of talent but needs to deliver the results would think.

Sam Michael - this time last year was one fo the guys who was really highly touted but gone off the radar a bit. still looking fwd to seeing him.

Josh Kolka - Very talented ruckmen

Sam Cabrebra - Very talented ruck prospect.

Adam Oxley - Went around last year and I thought unlucky not to be drafted. Has been going well in NEAFL for redlands and should go ok. Mid / Fwd type. Very smooth.

Dalton Tucker - another who went around last year and shows some signs. Mid type who moves well and has good skills. Will be interested to see him up against some of the better teams.

Alex Sexton - Gun player but will be with one of the QLD clubs come year end.

Jackson Starcevich - Replica of the old man and havent seen much of so naturally will be very keen to see him go around.

Tassie

I know very little of the Tassie kids other than to keep an eye out for;

Jimmy webster - very good mid

Dylan Riley - very good mid.

Jesse Lonergan - Underager

Brody Mihocek - taller athletic type

Ben Brown - huge talent but very injury prone and not sure if he will end up playing as recently inj.

have also heard Zac Hislop and Larry owen are worth watching but have seen zip of them.

Re: National Champs - Payers to Watch

Thanks Snoop Dog:

Any news on the VIC teams? Who has been cut from each squad? I heard that the VIC Metro team has a very talented pool of top age players with some bottom agers (AIS) only??

Re: National Champs - Payers to Watch

Good to see Stephen Hill's brother made the squad.

I understand that Gold Coast still have the rights to pick up the best Queensland kids this year.

Is the Kickett for WA related to Dale Kickett by any chance?

Really looking forward to seeing our NSW Rookie Craig Moller in action. Still underage, but had been very good in the TAC Cup games he has played and the senior games in the NSW Premier League.

Re: National Champs - Payers to Watch

Tassie

I know very little of the Tassie kids other than to keep an eye out for;

Jimmy webster - very good mid

Dylan Riley - very good mid.

Jesse Lonergan - Underager

Brody Mihocek - taller athletic type

Ben Brown - huge talent but very injury prone and not sure if he will end up playing as recently inj.

have also heard Zac Hislop and Larry owen are worth watching but have seen zip of them.

Julian Dobosz us the other one that could well create a bit of interest Snoop. Riley definitely the one to watch along with Lonergan.

Two N.T boys play in the TAC, Tipungwuti for Gippsland Power and Matt Smith for Western, so I have seen them play a bit. Of the two boys, Smith is the standout averaging 21 possessions in the TAC Cup so far in 2011. Missed the first 4 weeks of the season with a hamstring, but good form otherwise. He may be a surprise packet for NT in these Championships.

Re: National Champs - Payers to Watch

Good thread Snoop.

Just a note about some of the NSW kids etc, Tweeddale is on an Essendon NSW scholarship, Flagg is already GWS listed, and Tom Fields from Queensland is Essendon f/s eligible. Mihocek from Tassie is I think another son of an ex-Dons player, but his dad didn't reach the hundred game cutoff, so open season there.

I'll put together a similar list about the Vic boys later tonight if I get time, though I haven't seen all that much of Country.
