Gotta say I understand there will be practical limitations to numbers, but the fact that you're basically restricted to numbers from 1 to low 50s has always irked me.

There could be a lot of prestige for us attached to numbers like 73 or 66 if it was more conventional.

I’m taking nothing away from Spud when I say this, but if the club didn’t permanently retire number 1 after Barker’s passing then I don’t see them permanently retiring number 2.

As much I like his confidence. It was a smart move to not allow him to come into a professional football environment. Make a request like that and get it. Would be a good reality check for the lad and where he stands in the pecking order. May have even set a goal to earn the number 2 now.
