We had all our good players heisted out of here by Victorian clubs. North gave Jared Polec a 5 year 700k contract and made Brent Harvery retire when he was still one of their best players. Everything that has happened to them is their own fault.

Once again, how many times have we lost players to Vic clubs poaching them? North are in a basket case of their own making.

Just watched and listened to Chris Scott and Ross Lyons, and they agree with you....with Scott mentioning North playing in 8 finals in the last 10 yrs....and shouldn't be getting anything because of the decisions they made.....or something like that....

I 100% agree with them.

Every time North supporters talk about assistance they compare their failure with the Suns, saying they've won less games than us in the previous 4 year, completely disregarding the other 9 years of the Suns existence where we have won much less.

The AFL completely stuffed up the expansion into the Gold Coast by not providing facilities or the key staff to set a football club up.
Remember we got Guy McKenna and GWS got Kevin Sheedy.
I feel as if our assistance package was a "we're sorry" from the AFL and gave the Suns a pathway into youth development which the Suns are starting to benefit from.

If the AFL really wanted to help North, they would've given them more money in the soft cap to go out and acquire top level assistants, instead they give them draft picks and, with Scott Claytons record, i don't think it will work.
 
North really have not copped enough heat for just how utterly pathetic they have been as an organisation over the last 3 years.

For context, they have won less games in 2021 - 2023 than we did from 2017-2019, where we had about 20 fit players available for most of the time and any stars we had were heading for the door.
We literally could not have had anything more go against us during that time, and yet North are still somehow worse. And they seem to blame it all on Rhyce Shaw leaving unannounced and that’s it?

How is it even possible for a Melbourne based club to f*ck up this bad? With the amount of players wanting to play in Melbourne each year, you almost have to be aiming to be this bad on purpose. I just don’t understand how they got themselves in this position. Everyone at that club and their supporters should be embarrassed.

They made massive cuts after losing in the 2015 prelim final feeling as if they hit there peak.

That's the issue, they made a PRELIM final in 2015 and in 2023 have completely stuffed up their rebuild and have gone through multiple coaches only to ask for assistance in 2023.

The issue isn't the compromised draft, it's incompetent drafting.

It’s a shame they cut him off because he was getting right into a deep conversation about it
 
Funny how north smashed us round 24 and they still got an assistance package which they are trying to use to get pick 1 off the eagles…. Could of saved themselves a lot of time and effort by tanking…

Naughton is good, but is he 8 years good? King isn’t 8 years good either (though his contract is a two year trigger anyway).

These long contracts are becoming all the rage, but how many of them will be seen out in full by the club?
