The argument there would be ASADA have given him evidence that he was not aware of before he signed the last contract.... Once the show cause notice has be served and the evidence presented.

Didnt someone quite some time ago mention something about a senior player saying some massive good news was coming.
Is it possible this was Ryder and the whole Brisbane scenario came afterwards... similar to the crows and Polec last year.... or could this be something else.

No that's Cameron they were talking about.

Jake Niall in The Age outlines the reasons why Port has overtaken Brisbane.

The Lions now believe they have been overtaken by Port in the bid to secure Ryder, although Port, which takes on Hawthorn this Saturday in the preliminary final at the MCG,will make no firm offer to the player until its season has completed. Any player contract offer exceeding $300,000 annually or three years in term must be put before the club's board.
Port has overtaken Brisbane

Ken and Angus have played a part in selling the club and environment

Fairfax Media understands Port coach Ken Hinkley has been in contact with Ryder. The star ruckman is a good friend of former Bomber Angus Monfries, who has spoken with Ryder regarding his positive experience at Port Adelaide. The Monfries view has been that he has managed to thrive in Adelaide despite that city's strong AFL culture because he has not been the focus of ongoing fall-out from the Bombers' drugs program.

Port's Aboriginal community program has also been persuasive.

Monfries and Port have also communicated that club's strong reputation with indigenous players through the Power's highly regarded Aboriginal engagement and employment manager, Paul Vandenbergh.

Actually, the so-called exit clause is not written anywhere in his contract - it's contained in the most recent Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiated by the AFLPA and allows a player to terminate their current contract if they can prove that their club has breached the contract (including by failing its duty of care to the player's welfare). So there would be grounds to challenge on a number of fronts - did Essendon actually breach its duty of care to him, can the new CBA apply retrospectively to a contract signed before the CBA came into effect, and has Ryder waived his right to seek termination given he re-signed with the club after the breach was alleged to have occurred in 2011/12.

This is a job for

As I wrote a page or two back Monfries becomes the critical link to us getting Paddy.

Monfries has similar ASADA issues to Ryder and the club would have gone through all the what if scenario's with him and he would have advise Ryder this. Brisbane cant do that. All those what if uncertainties can be shared with Gus at Port and Port would do for Paddy what they will do for Gus. Brisbane haven't done that thinking to the nth degree like Port.

depends on how our other deals go and how desperate we are. second rounder is unders, but given the gold coast concessions I don't mind. they will come good with or wihout gorringe

Haha but we are depending on his manager Paul "nobody wants to come to Adelaide" Connors getting the deal done.

It's ok, he's getting his jollies torturing Adelaide with Dangerfield's contract. :D

I think he said Adelaide rather than South Australia, but meant Port, when we were sniffing around Luke Ball 4 years ago.
