Port not looking all that strong. If Yeo was fit and in then I'd back us for a win. As it is, if we get a fast start and our tails up, we could cause an upset.

Interesting. We have 3 tall emergencies but the actual 22 is not tall enough to match up with the Port.
Some innovative change strategies in the next 24 hours?

Edit: Port missed two tall players too.

Looking at the teams, if BBW is marginal then swapping in Barnett isn't the worst option. Not going to get many softer rucking assignments than this for a debut.

13 changes to the team from the same game last year

In - Gaff, Clark, Petch, Culley, Jones, Hunt, Rotham, LEdwards, Allen, Ginbey, SPS, Trew + the sub
Out - XO, Langdon, Hedwards, Redden, Nelson, Cripps, JK, Ryan, Strnadica, Naish, Hurn, Rioli and Yeo (who was injured early in the game).

I think the 2023 team would beat the 2022 team.
No way. 2022 is far superior.
Redden, Cripps, Ryan, Rioli, Hurn and Yeo are best 22. Allen for last season JK is a fair swap. Nelson would comfortably get a game right now.

In a fair season, Clark, Petch, Jones, Rotham, Trew, our sub arent in it. Ledwards wouldnt have got a look in.

If one of both of Williams or Shuey breakdown during this game then there has to be criticism heaped on the medical staff and the club in general

Even in our injury laden state, still plenty to look forward to in this game. Different vibe to last year despite the circumstances. Another chance for Trew, keen to see if he can step up. Will watch Ginbey, Culley, L Edwards with interest once again.

Ruck battle against an inexperienced Port division will also be interesting, whoever we put out there. If it's Barnett will be good to get a glimpse, if it's BBW then hoping he can show some authority on the contest for the first time (I think he's been good the last few weeks despite not winning the ruck).

Just piss off with the injuries. Don't want to see any more carnage.

Pretty humiliating effort from XON here.

Stick a fork in him.

Welcome to Perth FC 2024.

Yeah if he can’t break into a side that’s struggling to find 22 healthy bodies, that’s gotta be about it. This was a make or break year for him and fair to say, alll signs are pointing strongly to break at this stage.

What a seldom used term to describe a non important player with a limited afl career….

From the West Australian

Despite being crippled by an injury crisis, West Coast have sensationally dumped whipping boy Xavier O’Neill, with captain Luke Shuey’s return from injury confirmed….

It is the ninth time in three seasons O’Neill has been dropped, with the 22-year-old only selected for more than two consecutive games once in his career.

But then the square up …

But he does loom as the most likely substitute for West Coast, with Barnett and Rhett Bazzo, who has been added to the squad for the first time since the tragic death of his own mother, listed as emergencies.

XONs papers must be stamped.

He looks most likely to be the sub, but wouldnt shock me if Barnett is the sub.

"Well Dermie, as they toss the coin, I have to comment on West Coasts decision to go in with no recognised ruckman..."

Good God! That's Scott Lycett's theme music!?!

Up the *in Coasters!
"And Derm we've just received word that Scott Lycett has dislocated his shoulder attempting to put an Eagles jumper on and is out of the game"

Yup, Shuey is just a matter of time shirley? Pick a week?
Yeo looks unlikely to be the same again...
Be good to see what Trew brings?..and Foley.
Will Culley improve, will Barrass stand up/show some leadership, maybe Darling to snag a few?
TBC...
