Sick Bay (Or what ails you)

But GG might have suffered the same symptoms without the vaccine. GG doesn't know and will never know. And GG was vaccinated with the latest mix 3 weeks before.

GG is a bit sniffly today on day 6 but otherwise recovered and has been out of the apartment wearing a mask to collect a dog from the upper floor. The owners could not find an alternative minder and according to the Vic Health guidelines, GG can move about a bit now while being cautious not to spread what still remains of the plague. I will do a RAT test later, but a negative test is not a requirement on the Vic Health site to leave isolation. Loss of symptoms and 5 days isolation is all that's requested of sufferers.

In many ways, covid is preferable to the flu. There has been little in the way of coughing, though had a runny nose and sneezing. The flu or a cold would linger for weeks, even months after in the form of a hacking cough.
It takes 7 to 14 days after a booster dose before you get stronger protection.
Not "full" protection, just stronger.

Another day (day 8) another positive test. My dog walking clients will soon be voting with the paws of their pets.
I got to the point where I was trying a different brand thinking the one I was using was wrong as I was feeling better.

The first test I took on Saturday when there was no way known in retrospect that I wasn't positive. Then I figured I had a 24 hour bug after the covid temporarily abated, and that 24 hours is the worst of what I have suffered. Then I had 2 duds that didn't even work. I have a different brand now. Is there any significance to a lighter coloured second line?

I really don't know what shelf life the tests have, I too tested early and it was negative.

A lighter second line? Not sure other than the virus is going.

Getting the flu injection next week and even though it hasn't been 6 months (since Covid) not sure if I will have the next Covid injection.
Doctors suggest I do but still thinking about it.

I wasn't that impressed with the vaccine's effectiveness given I had no. 5 three weeks before I came down with covid, and had been given the vaccine considered most up to date at the time. If it lessened covid's effects then I sure didn't notice it, but I guess I don't have any means of comparison. I had the flu vaccine last year, but prior to that had never had it, and can only recall getting the flu once in living memory. As I am not paying for it, I may get it again. Might protect me in Thailand too.

Well they’d be f ing fools then.
You sound like a reliable employee who actually cares about his charges.
So you’re sick. Everyone gets sick.
Day 10 positive but no real symptoms. I had 2 in-house dogs which would otherwise have been alone all day. I thought I was negative today but then noticed the faintest of lines. Did a walk on the beach with no real ill effects. You're right though - I care a lot about the dogs in my charge.

Day 11 positive and a cough has developed and gone to my chest. Bought another box of tests. This is going on forever. I will make a telehealth appointment but the reception in my apartment is so poor, when the doctor calls, the call goes straight to message bank.

For a telehealth appointment I had to go and sit in my car and wait - doctor usually running 30-40 mins late, so was glad when face to face appointments returned. But this time I have no choice. I kind of see no point in consulting a doctor by phone now. Seems like it
is too late.

Gee, I really feel for you as I think I know what you are going through.

Don't know what to suggest.

Thanks Maggie. I have a telehealth appointment on Thursday (earliest I could get) with a clinic bulk bill doctor. The guy's all right I guess compared to the other doctors in the clinic and should at least be able to tell me how contagious I am likely to be at this stage and what to do next. Wish I had a real doctor! Short of waiting till I become an ambulance case, I am at a bit of a loss where to go from here.

EDIT: I checked with the clinic this morning and I don't have a telehealth appointment till next week. Shows what kind of state of mind I was in! Thursday next week is the earliest appointment time. I am not going to test again today. I don't know what to do.

Well yes and no.

Like the flu, covid is now a continually evolving beast. Changing to combat whatever defences we throw at it.
So in this case it has outsmarted the vaccine, so yes the vaccine didn't work to stop GG getting covid.
But..... GG is still alive and not hospitalised. So yes, the vaccine did work as intended. That intention has always been to prevent hospitalisation and lessen the risk of death.
Despite the crap GG is now going through, its a win.

I heard the Vaccine has led to people going to Hospital and even Dying from the Vaccine.

So guess up to each person to way up the Risks

Didn't test yesterday. I am not sure I really need or want to anymore. Got a dry cough yesterday as a bit of an afterthought, but feel strong again. 13 days. All dogs back on again.

Glad you are back on your feet TGG. Sounds like a rough ride. Hope it is plain sailing from now on.

I am supposed to be looking after horses and people this week but have come down with the Rona and people are having to look after me instead. Flat on back. The cat is using my head as a pillow and I am too stuffed to throw it off. Purring strangely analgesic except whenever I cough it tells me this is unwelcome by clawing. May need a wood chipper.

Greek Easter family do last Sunday, 2 of the extended fam have so far tested positive. Nervous wait for the rest of us. OK so far. :)

Get well soon mate.

P.S: Rona is no excuse for not giving carrots to the pony.

The freaking pony got out somehow and went straight for the hay stores. Lots of bales carefully wrapped in plastic, instead of feasting on one of them he bit his way into each and every bale breaking the seals and throwing s**t everywhere and had a bit of a taste.

The woodchipper is for the pony.

ya see, donkeys are way smarter. they would have on-sold/traded those bales to ponies, for carrots and apples

I don't think there has ever been a vaccine that hasn't had a fatality along the way.
But the world is a better place for the vaccines. Polio, measles, smallpox, TB, the list goes on and on. All those diseases killed in the tens of thousands and now don't.
As I've always said, life is risk, and the vaccines are a risk. But it's a terribly small risk compared to the consequences that we saw before we had them.

Well I think other Vaccines where Properly Tested and not like the Covid One that just came out ASAP.

I get the Reason why they wanted it out Quick but people where putting there Lives at Risk even IF it was a Small % that Died from it.

That was the Big Reason why my Sister Refused the Vaccine for Her and her Kids.

Saw on a Car Yesteday someone saying there was a Ex-Nurse and Called the Covid Vaccine Poison

Dave, viagra was tested for longer period than the vaccines but did you know that 522 people died taking it in 2000?

I very much doubt whether any medication or vaccines is 100% fail safe, even the humble aspirin can cause problems/death.

Around 11 per cent of older Australians take daily aspirin to help prevent stroke and heart attack, but statistically, aspirin is two hundred times more dangerous than AstraZeneca – resulting in around one death per 10,000 people.

We don't know what underlying conditions people have and unless we do, can't blame just the drug/vaccine.

maggie i think with all these things you need to dive deeper into the statistics.

now how did these blokes actually die... was it from the viagra, or maybe a heart attack ie, lets say exercising a little too much due to their new found powers?

Oh dear.
Billions and billions of jabs administered over the last few years might prove the safety of the vaccines.
An ex nurse? Not someone who has spent years in university learning the trade and then years in research labs?
Who to believe!

Testing of vaccines normally take years as you say. Mostly because there isn’t money to dedicate to the single vaccine for a small percentage of the population that needs it. Why do you think MND is screaming for donations every year?
The Covid vaccines had billions of dollars thrown at them and thousands of man hours to develop and test in a short time frame. If that amount of money and manpower was available for MND we would probably have a vaccine by now.

Very Good Chance my Dad dies from the Vaccine and that is very close to home

Drug Companies see Covid is a way to make Billions of Dollars
