I mean if Bony is going for 20 - 25M, Carroll is worth around that, and he had a better season last season between the 2...

I agree with this, Carroll is clearly worth 35m.

Carroll was worth 20M when we bought him. It was effectively Chelsea giving Newcastle 15M as we would've sold Torres for 35M, but wouldn't make the move until we could get a replacement in and NUFC really, really didn't want to sell him. The consistency of injuries since then obviously devalues him. 27.5 y.o. now so the risk probably puts him sub 10M.

Football supporters? I know it's not just Spurs fans... Anyone who likes seeing good football dislikes it when a big club buys someone they then barely play. It weakens the team they left and often weakens the league. Wigan without Moses, Newcastle without Cabaye, Villa without Delph (I just had to spend a couple of minutes Googling to remember his name).

Or more excitingly, when young guns come through it captures the imagination, like when Lukaku or Sturridge were getting games elsewhere.
