I've tracked Carlton's pre-seasons since I can remember and they're literally all flying this year compared to previous years. Especially in comparison to last year. You need to understand that last year at this same point of the pre-season we had like 22 players in the rehab group. This year it's like only 2-3. Also, everyone is busting their nut to impress the Coach, because he's come in with a clean slate and the experienced guys aren't just going to be gifted games like they were under MM just because he wanted to always have his most experienced team on the park, even if 6-8 of them were list cloggers. Last pre-season it felt like a lot of players were just happy to be on an AFL list and going through the motions, even during pre-season. Under Bolton, everyone is under the microscope, so it's little wonder why the entire list has been giving it their all this pre-season because no one, probably not even the coach would currently know what his best 22 will be come rd1.

So Boltons a better coach than Malthouse.

Really..just really

Bolton doesn't know what his best 22 is because of 1 reason

THEY DON'T HAVE A BEST 22

Seriously, I had no idea that you're such an ignorant campaigner, even for a Filth supporter. Enough trolling from you.

But to answer your question, yes, yes he's a better coach than MM has been for the last few years. MM was a one trick pony, set in his old ways who had run out of ideas. Seriously, MM was a terrible coach for us. His ultra defensive, hug the boundary, take the longest possible route from one end to the other game plan did not suit the players that we had/have at all. Actually, that game plan wouldn't suit any of the other 17 teams either.

s**t, Collingwood might have even won a couple more flags a few years back, with a different/better coach. :rainbow:

Don't worry mate...Carlton may just be the Port of 2013 or the Dogs of 2015....sometimes a new coach and new young players is just what a club needs- now do I predict it to happen? No, but anything is possible.
I remember hearing the same crap about my team after 2012 but I also knew a certain Robbie Gray was coming back from injury and they would be like "who's Robbie Gray". Ignore the crap and pray like hell Bolton is magical!

Port of 2013 or Dogs of 2015 is a bridge too far IMO, but more like StKilda 2015 is realistic with a much younger team this year. They only won 2 & 1/2 more games than us, but were obviously more competitive and the energetic youth component really seemed to help bring out the best in just about all of their Snr players. Monty, Steven, Armi etc...which reflected in their teams and individual SC scores.

Most people had Port and Dogs very close to bottom in those years. I also agree that it probably will be closer to the saints. Also agree Murphy and Cripps will have good years supercoach wise, I think Gibbs' name is getting tossed around a bit too much though.

I reckon Gibbs will have a better year than Murph this year. Murph still in the rehab group after shoulder surgery.

Goes to show how many good options there are in the midfield this year when Neale is at 1.75%. I think Mundy (1.38%) will go 110-115pts again this season but I understand why he isn't getting select with the other super premos around his price range.

Is Boomer past it? Getting no love from anyone, but hasn't missed a beat at training. Still the hardest worker and best trainer apparently.
