Official Match Thread Sweet FA S15 Rd03 : East Side Hawks vs Baghdad Bombers at Waverley Park (MOTR)

Game: Monday night, 9th of July, Waverly Park.


Teams: to be announced prior to 9pm AEST on Friday, 6th of July. Captains or team-submitters please tag loopy_cam with official team submissions.


Form: A consistant effort against the Dragons first up saw East Side over the line in Round 1, but a second half brainfade saw them score just 2.6 to blow it versus the Roys. Last year's reigning wooden-spooners have shown enough to suggest their horror S14 will not be repeated, they aren't experiencing another golden age just yet.

The Bombers are equally confounding. Last year's premiers might once again be aiming to peak at the pointy end of the season but they will need to be careful of leaving their run too late, like they did against the Demons last week. They dominated the Roys in Round one without really hurting them on the scoreboard and the mists of a premiership hangover have yet to be definitively blown away.


Players to watch:
larrikin is the form ruckman of the competition. His work around the ground is only matched by his excellent tapwork and you would be hard pressed to find a club more reliant on good service from the centre bounce than the Hawks. On his day he can rip sides apart and East Side fans will be hoping this Monday is one of those days.

beez had the sort of opening round that would have made Bombers fans drool in anticipation of their captain continuing his outrageous State of Origin form through the season. The next week, he touched the ball just 10 times. beez has failed to consistantly live up to the hype in the last few seasons and will be driven to make amends for that sort of performance this week.


Summary: The Bombers put up a real fight against the Demons while the Hawks have been consistant but not brilliant. This could go right down to the wire and I'm tipping a late fightback from the Bombers could see this game be worthy of Match of the Round status.

Prediction: a draw.
