How was L. Delaney game and where do we think he is at ?

Beaten by McBean (who only had 2 marks but kicked 4 goals, after 5 last week).

Delaney is normally very good at this level (taking the opposition's #1 forward), and last week Majak Daw only kicked 0.3 after 5.2 on Lee & Hugh earlier in the season.

Can't say I understood Richo's comment about him still building his game.

Seems a handy type for the bigger forwards (who have caused mayhem against us in the past like Tippett).

But when we play Delaney, Fisher, Geary, Gilbert and Dempster in the same team we've looked dicey sometimes trying to bring the ball out.

Hugh might not have the tank yet, but his kicking to a leading target has been at a very high level in the VFL. Has alot of confidence going for marks and kicking.

And Roberton, Dempster and Gilbert seem to be able to get away with flipping between talls and smalls in most games (albeit just at times).

Ross - close to best on ground … got us going.

Shenton - did well when the backline was under the pump … didn’t get beaten in one-on-one contests.

Acres - fumbled a little bit early but as the game wore on he got better and cleaner.

Minchington - got to work in the second half … best part of his game was his defensive effort.

Saunders - small forward role … solid game.

Wright - good … also contributed offensively.

Hickey - played more in the ruck … best game for a while.

Lee - very solid.

Markworth - quieter game.

McKenzie - little bit rusty at times.

Delaney - solid … didn’t get a lot of the ball.

Membrey - made the most of his opportunities … pressure was terrific.

Holmes - played as a forward … presented well.

White - effort was reasonable.

Development:
Saad - attitude was terrific … kicked four goals and showed great leadership.
Siposs - worked hard and got his fair share of the ball.
Payne - development is going well.
Pierce - excellent game in the ruck.
Baker-Thomas - another solid performance in defence.

How about Shentons disposal efficiency?

He's always a pretty good kick, it's more his decision making under extreme pressure that lets him down. He often draws a man only to corral himself into a pocket then has no obvious targets and tries to hug the boundary and let it roll out or kicks to a contested situation.

Can't believe Saad playing dev squad this week after the wraps he's been getting. Good on him for bringing good attitude.

They must have a rotation policy in place to make sure players arent missing out too much.
