Re: #16 Warren Tredrea

This long interview with Wazza yesterday with Peter Walsh from ABC Grandstand is worth listening to. He is pretty reflective of his career and the way the game has changed and his role along with getting over injuries etc. As impressive as I've ever heard Wazza.

Scroll down a bit and you will see the link. If you get here a bit after I've posted the link check the right hand side and look in the April 2009 archieve.

Re: #16 Warren Tredrea

^Thanks for that awesome interview REH.

All I have to say is...

<3 <3 <3 WARREN TREDREA <3 <3 <3

<3 <3 <3 __#16__ <3 <3 <3

What do you think are the chances of him taking on a coaching role in the future? He seems to be quite family-orientated though, so post-retirement he may want to just spend it all with them, who knows. Certainly when it comes to the game he has an attention to detail. Loved the interview.

Maybe this could be on the main port board to get a few more listens?

Re: #16 Warren Tredrea

Appropriate the great Barry Robran hands the best CHF, along with Stephen Kernahan, SA has produced in the last 35 years his premiership medal.

Re: #16 Warren Tredrea

As far as i'm concerned if Tredders performs as solidly again in 2010 as he did in 2009, keep going mate, once it's over it's over. Except if your name is Plugger or the Big Fish.

He was such a good player and equal amount of club B&F when we were a decent side
Look at our finals years
1999 - 2nd
2001 - 1st
2002 - 2nd
2003 - 2nd
2004 - 1st
2005 - 1st
2007 - didnt make top 10 as still recovering from 4th knee dislocation in 2006.
Would could have been post 2005 season if he didnt do that 4th dislocation in February 2006.

Edit - Tredders 4 dislocations

1998 Right knee dislocation v Carlton, missed 5 games.
2001 Left knee dislocation v Syd in 2nd week of Ansett cup, missed 5 weeks, played Rd 2.
2003. Right knee dislocation v Adl 1st week of Wizard cup. Has arthroscopy, misses 4 weeks plays in Rd 1.
2006 Left knee dislocation v Brisbane NAB Challenge game Footy Park, 11 March. Misses first 3 games and comes back for Rd 4. But after game in Rd 15 goes in for more surgery and season ends.

Still have to wonder what happened to him post 2009. Obviously the career ending injury didn't help, but his form before that what just on passable. 2009 he was monolithic.

What do you mean. He had his 4th dislocation in February 2006 it wasnt a normal dislocation like the other 3 it was major and you had the cumulative effects of the other 3. He played 11 games in 2006 and was very average and 2007 he was up and down as he tried to recover his form. He wanted to drop himself after his 199th game which was a shocker. Choco said no, partly because he thought he deserved to be rewarded and partly because we played Essendon who at that stage were our's and Tredders' bunnies. 2008 he made good improvement but he also got injury and did his shoulder and missed the last 5 games. In 2010 that ankle injury that he got in Rd 7 and needed surgery was it. It was enough for his body. The fact Choco was sacked probably also had a little bit to do with it, but you could tell the injuries had got to him and he knew it was time.

Port Adelaide veteran Warren Tredrea has opted for radical surgery to extend his AFL career. Tredrea had a synthetic ligament used in surgery on his right ankle, an injury forecast to sideline him for three months. The 31-year-old on Monday night underwent a surgical procedure similar to the revolutionary LARS operation on Tredrea's teammate David Rodan and Sydney Swan Nick Malceski. Both Rodan and Malceski both returned four months after having knee reconstructions.

Port Adelaide's doctor, Mark Fisher, described Tredrea's ankle injury as "potentially career threatening"."The advantage of the synthetic ligament is that it has a great deal of flexibility, which allows him to get going a lot quicker," Dr Fisher said on Tuesday. "The procedure is relatively new, but it has been used quite regularly in New South Wales in the rugby league and also in American footballers. "Hopefully it means we'll be able to get Tredders training a little bit sooner than you'd otherwise expect." Tredrea damaged two ligaments in an ankle last Saturday during Port's win over Essendon.

Dr Fisher expected the key forward to return about round 16. "We've seen the injury before and it's certainly a serious one, which is why we're being fairly conservative with it," he said. "But knowing Tredders, he's the sort of person who is very obsessive about his rehabilitation so it wouldn't surprise me if he came straight back in at AFL level. "He's been remarkable in his comeback from his knee injuries and if anybody is able to come back from this injury he's certainly one of the few that could do it."

I mean after kicking 50 odd goals and winning a BnF in 2009, he hardly started 2010 in the same manner
