Yourforwards must be quite a lovely bunch the way the bombers defenders were hugging them tightly the whole game.

Pretty bloody annoyed by them, the deliberate OOB and the push in the back on Hill was very harsh and lucky to be paid; but the Bombers certainly dominated the 2nd half and were very dangerous going forward, while we fumbled and turned it over constantly. Wish that Hill had looked for a teammate instead of going for the goal.

McGinnity was a huge liability, should never be used in defence and will be very lucky to get another AFL game, while playing 3 rucks was a huge waste of a position, esp. with Lycett unfortunately having a very quiet game.
The galling thing about those kicks was the fact that there were several non kicks paid that should have been paid to the eagles and yet they pick kicks that simply weren't there. I know that you can't rely on kicks evening up but 21 to Essendon and 11 to us just bears out the reason eagles fans complained. In the last quarter, the front on contact and holding to Darling when he had his man beaten in a marking dual was just bloody obvious.

Darling really does not do himself any favours with the umpires. He needs to stop staging for free kicks because it makes it harder for the umps to pay the obvious ones.

He needs to go and watch footage of himself in debut year. Presenting square chested to the ball and play ferociously.

Darling has lost a lot of pace, they have baulk him up to much.
Yeh agreed. He don't need to be that big, especially if he's going to play in the 'midfield'

Not sure I agree. He is taking lead up marks comfortably when the ball is kicked to his advantage coming in. In contested situations it is just bloody hard to take a mark. The board is creaming up over Gov getting 2.4 or something a game for reference.

Defensively he looks to take too long to decide to chase a fair bit these days. Unfortunately usually because he is sooking about not getting a free. He'll catch plenty ala 2012 if he starts focussing on the footy.

Well he seems to have dropped off on both accounts.

In 2012 when he was our sole FF, he was a strong beast and could outmuscle his opponents. Right now, he seems to look slower, AND also weaker. A fair amount of throwing his head back and 'pulling a cox'.

Had a good start to the year, but he needs to lift. Hurley matched him physically and athletically.

Not to fussed about losing to be honest...

6 day break vs 8 days - makes the world of difference.

3 Rucks - had we dropped cox and put another runner in, we would have at least equalled or reduced the scoreboard damage the bummers were giving us.

Injuries to midfield - game would have been put away with Yeo, Rosa, Ellis, Selwood etc earlier in the game.

The positives are obvious - we took a finals contending team away and almost pulled away with a win. With all the reasons above, if you didn't watch the game, you would assume a loss straight away, but we didn't give it to them that easily!

Chin up guys, we aren't premiership contenders this year. Yes it would be nice making the finals (we would be fighting for top four if we had won many of these types of games), but it would be a hell of a lot better if we end up with a Jayden laverde in the long run over a Clem Smith type ;).

Question: If we make the finals and beat say Port does that mean that Ports draft pick will better ours?
