Indian selectors - 3. Leaving out Ashwin potentially costly. A pitch known to have bounce, a bowler with a good record against Smith in Australia (where there is bounce and the leg slip came into play), and an off spinner against a side with a high left hander quota. Would it have made a difference to the result? Who knows. If the old trap against Smith worked again, possibly, but Smith tends to adjust for such things rather well once a flaw is exploited - its part of why he stays good.

Yes and he provides an extra bat too. Not a great decision leaving him out.

Australia drove this match from day one and they already had one hand on the trophy by innings end, with India forced to chase the game from then on. Once or twice they made inroads into the huge Aussie lead but could not maintain any momentum as scoreboard pressure on your opposition is a great ally for the leader to have. The catalyst for victory by the world champions was the outstanding record partnership by master anchor man Steve Smith and the little bloke that loves taking on the bowling Travis Head. I believe the freedom Head played with was due to the stonewall that Smith was setting. In fact they both benefited from each other, with Smith saying that he ''felt under less pressure'' while Head was hammering the Indian bowling. The pick of our attack was big Barrel, Scotty Boland who pestered India to distraction with his relentless line and length, followed by Cameron Green whose bowling is fast reaching quality standard. The big fellar may well be Australia's biggest Ashes find..

Savor being world champions Baggy Greens, you deserve it.

People are making a big deal about the margin.

Worth pointing out that there was really only one partnership difference between the 2 teams.

Take out the Smith/Head first innings 285 and there really wasn't much in it as apart from that, it was 4 relatively low scoring innings.

Now don't get me wrong, it was some excellent batting and meant the result was deserved, but a little luck and a couple of wickets could easily have swung the match.

Talk about sour grapes from Sharma...he wants a three test series let me guess the tests to be held at Nagpur Delhi and Nagpur

wouldn't be adverse to having the venue rotate around the world, or maybe just between the big 3 since it would be highly improbable that one of them don't make the final.

India had more batsman get starts than we did, they just squandered them, thought it was actually a pretty poor batting performance from them. Their batting this cycle was generally terrible, got bailed out by their lower order (ie: ashwin in Bangladesh and Axar in our series).

Nah, I don’t want this final going anywhere near India. Will turn into a complete farce.

Haha what a bunching of whinging idiots.

Our way or no way is the India Mentality.

Hey Rohit how about the ipl not being played for 6 months of the year might free up some space for a 3 match series.

7's is overs for Green IMO. Took some nice catches but didn't offer much with the ball and way too slow with the bat.

I see it the other way with bazball reckon they poms will put us in straight away the first sign of a green deck
Bazball may mean the decks aren't as green as is sometimes the case, in case they have to bat first.
Its also a reason to consider not playing Starc, the one most likely to have a loose spell and play into Bazball. But that's for another thread.

A series would be better, but fitting it in around the franchise calendar is difficult. It basically only leaves March or the English summer.

I wouldn't mind it being in a nation unlikely to play in it, so there isn't the possibility of second hosting first with home ground advantage. Which makes England perfect, they won't ever be there. :p
