Just reading some posts on the ins and outs for next week and thing people are being a little short sighted.
The game is still a week away and the Bullants game isn't done yet so it's probably premature, but i'd take O'hAlpin in for Russell at this point. Russell was probably brought in against the Dons for pace and it didn't pay off. Collingwood aren't as quick so he's probably not the best player to have in next weekend.
Thought i'd give some perspective on some match-ups i'd like to see next week, for the sake of focussed discussion.
Backline...
Waite on Cloke: Assuming Cloke plays more up the ground than Rocca. Will be able to run with him and off him. Should be a good battle.
O'hAlpin on Rocca: Good match up for size. Don't think Jamieson is right for either Rocca or Cloke. O'hAlpin could also cause some potentical problems for Rocca if he gets the chance to run him around.
Jamieson on Medhurst: Medhurst is in good form, good to see a little pressure off Jammo in terms of size. Like to see him take on a forward without conceeding a height disadvantage.
Mids...
Bannister on Thomas/Didak: Bannister seems the goto tagger, has played on mids and small forwards. He can certainly keep up with either, he has the tank. Speed might be an issue but if Bannister can stick to either and cut down their possessions then that will be a big help. I'm probably leaning towards Didak.
Hadley on Swaw: Hadley did a good job last night. Like to see him run with Swaw, seems like a good match up for height and pace.
Scotland on Lockyer/Shaw
Carrazzo on Davis: Davis could be a headache. This match-up could work if we get on top and Davis is forced to be accountable to Carrots. If the Pies are on top i might move Simpson onto him.
Forwards...
Like to see Freddie play the majority down forward, rotating with Cloke and Hampson. Three rucks, who can all go forward might be an advantage in running Fraser and Wood about.
Fevola -v- Brown: Hopefully the form can continue, could cause some headaches for the inexperienced Brown, which could cause some issues for the pies.
That probably leaves Waklin and Maxwell to take Fisher and the resting ruckman, oppotunity here for a nice miss-match as Waklin lacks a bit of nip and Maxwell will tend to play loose.
The temptation here is also to bring in Edwards or Hartlett to try and further gain an advantage up forward, but i'm not conviced that either can capitalise.
Judd also to keep playing more in the forward line.
Had to get this out of my system, for what it's worth.
