Browsing the super footy site earlier on i came across this article written by Mike sheahan, i will quote the revelant information :)

"Now there's a rumour that won't go away: Kerr wants to come to Melbourne to resume his association with former teammate and housemate Judd at Princes Park.
The rumour is gathering momentum. Carlton, predictably, is aware of it. So, too, Collingwood; maybe even Essendon.
While Kerr is contracted until after the 2009 season, players determined to go elsewhere have a healthy rate of success".

Yeah I read that too.

On one hand he would be great to have onboard but the Juddster may have to take a cut in his salary so we could fit him in under the cap.

However how could he get to Carlton though? Hopefully we won't have first go at him through the PSD, which would mean putting together some kind of package of players and a 1st round draft pick to trade for him.

On the negative side, that begs the question of how old and free of injury will Kerr be by then, and most importantly will he be worth what we would have to give up for him?

I hope the club doesn't fall back into the old habit of chasing name players past their best, rather than developing our own emerging youngster, as we all know only too well what happened then!!!

Richmond are in the box seat.

Didn't Judd leave WCE to get away from players like Kerr or their culture?

We don't need Kerr, he is undisciplined on and off the field, something we don't need!!

We have a fantastic bunch of young players who will be great onballers in the next few years...let Collingwood or Essendon have this short fuse!!

Nah no way man, judd and kerr are best mates. Kerr lied on footy classified i think, about judd was never gonna leave wce..

I wouldn't mind kerr coming across, my objection would be if it meant we lose 1) good players
2) good young players in the future due to salary cap contraints, and doing a sydney and letting go players for nothing...

Last year wasn't it Embley, this year Kerr whose next year Darren Glass? We were lucky to get Judd and we were 15th, this year I hope that we are going to finish higher up the ladder which will make our bargaining power not as great, l cant see it happening.

Don't think we need Kerr - far rather develop players like Murph and Gibbs. Kerr is over-rated a bit IMO. His real test, will be how he performs without Judd and Cousins. We'll have a better idea of his real capabilities by the end of the season. He also formed a large part of the Weagle drug culture (e.g. caught on Fed Police tape) - prefer not to have guys like that at our CLub. It's impossible for him to go to Carlton even if he wanted to, because we're likely we'll finish around 10th to 7th this year. Would he really want to play for Melbourne? Doubt it. :)

Kerr Overrated?
please.

He's obviously an awesome player but we don't need him.. our midfield is looking good.
If we are going to poach anyone, it should be a backman

i posted this over at TC

it will be very difficult considering the fact that if Fevola keep's his current form and is out of contract at year's end he would be around the 500,000+ per year bracket you would think. also stevo another who is out of contract next year, so to commit to another major signing could be detrimental to keeping our younger players together.

Having said all this, we did hear swanny saying after the Judd signing last year that we had enough room in the cap to afford another key signing so it is something that we need to consider also. I have full confidence in Swanny to do the right thing and 1 keep our younger players together and 2. do the right thing and perhaps get another key signing.

Another thing, that means provided that we dont get another priority pick which i think we wont, we will need to give up another high pick this year. But it is Kerr and he will more than make up for it, especially only being 25??? y/o/a.

Gees its good to be a club that big names want to come to again.

GO BLUES, GO SWANNY and Co.

It's a nothing story. Wouldn't surprise me if it was started by his manager to get him a better contract with WC. Unlike Judd who was coming out of contract, Kerr is still contracted until the end of 2009.

We're probably in a position, youth wise, to give up a first rounder and a player like Carrazzo for a player of Kerr's quality.

I guess you'd have to look at the risks in taking on board Kerr though. The whole WA football culture just doesn't suit some guys and maybe he's caught up in that. It's such a fishbowl over there, it'd be easy to slip into bad habits.
